This. I did a lot of stupid shite while I was drunk but they were still my actions. Years later and I am still embarrassed. If you are sloppy drunk coming to an LSU game it's time to quit and/or rehab.

Im exactly the same. Finally realized I couldnt handle the shite and got some help. When I look at drunks now it revolts me that I use to act like that. The only game at LSU I went to was last years Arkansas game and had some great seats in the club level. One guy (about 50) was throwing up about 3 seats over at the end of the first quarter.

Ive developed a hatred for the smell of alchohol and it was sickeningly thick in that area. But to each his own. Im blessed to be off that shite.

Well, by your own admission, he was drunk at that moment in time. You, of course, have no idea what his emotions were when he sobered up. He may have felt profound remorse and apologized profusely to the "old man."

I did say he was drunk. I also stand by my earlier statement that being drunk is absolutely no excuse for shitty outcomes, hence the dead wife analogy. I hope he does feel shitty. I hope he's sore for the next month and can't sleep at night. Maybe he'll think next time before he gets uncontrollably drunk and injures someone.

A friend of mine was sitting about 3 seats over from him and said he had been pretty rowdy all game shouting and beating on the handrail. She said everyone was sitting while LSU was on offense. Then one of the backs had a big run and the guy lept up out of his seat and over the handrail.

Wow

I figured it was like Barney the Simpsons drunk... went "hey a peanut!" and then fell over the railing

Not sure what I would do if some guy just jumped up and over the railing in front of me... probably just blink a lot

what fricking idiot falls over a railing at a football game?

I'll tell you who, some Louisiana Neanderneck POS alcoholic drunk that's just one of the many who try to cover up the misery of their lives by getting blasted at every LSU football game. They can't attend and enjoy the tailgating and game sober. These little addict-freaks find it absolutely necessary to exit reality and drink alcohol until they're in that altered state level that's sufficent for them to carry on.

Don't like it and will never understand that mentality. Didn't get it then and still don't get it now. ..............

I asked my buddy the following question, "If that guy would have died right there in front of us would we have left the game? Could we have cheered in the same capacity we did the rest of that great game?" Food for thought.

I would have stayed for the rest of the game for sure and had it been the Iron Bowl and if the guy that fell was an Auburn fan, I would have gone through his pockets before the medics got there. I would have robbed his Auburn arse.

Just kidding, but I would have stayed for the game for sure.

Why? The most you're gonna loot is a half-empty can of wintergreen Skoal and rape whistle.

I wonder what type of insurance LSU has to buy to settle the inevitable law suits that come from these types of things. I'd also be curious as to how much it adds to the average ticket price. 2¢? $2.00? More? It really would be interesting to find out.

Whatever the premium is, it's going up now.

The assumption of risk is definitely on the spectator at a sporting event.

I was hit by a Blake Dean foul ball the last season at the old Box and I still have marks on my body from it. Just because I was hit by a ball doesn't mean I'd sue. I had a baseball sized bruise on me for 5 weeks.

I don't know that the guy who fell has a leg to stand on in a lawsuit since he was witnessed as being publicly drunk. He wasn't acting prudently or taking extra care when he was in the vicinity of the rail and witnesses said it appeared that he just jumped over it.

Agree 100% The guy will probably be held accountable but LSU will be safe. If the injured go for a payday and state that LSU was negligent by not having high enough rails the fact that he intentional jumped over will trump that.

I don't think the guy was drunk...It happened when Ron Brooks sacked Masoli and Nevis recovered the fumble. I didn't see him fly over, but I heard he was jumping up and down after the big play, and he got bumped while in midair, landed on the railing, and flipped backwards over it. I sit in section 423, on section to the left from where he fell. Give the guy a break...it was just an accident. I remember falling over in the student section for the LSU/UGA game in 03 when Skylar caught the TD pass to win the game...I was so excited jumping up and down, and I got bumped...same thing. And, I was not drunk...things happen

Having said that, I'm sure ticket prices will go up next season to pay for new, higher railings. I could even see them getting rid of the 1st row all the way around to avoid this in the future

I heard that he was so upset by hearing the LSU students chant "suck a Tiger dick" that he lost his balance and fell from the upper deck. Damn students

FYI, they didn't even play neck at the ole miss game bc of the students saying "Suck that tiger dick" at the Bama game. Therefore, he def was not upset about that.

and that railing is actually pretty low...

It really is. It is below my center of gravity, and I'm no giant. Really don't know if the guy was drunk or not, but I cannot believe this has not happened before.

if he sues and if the railing is that low with no obvious warnings or safety measures in place, chances are he will get something, prob 20-50% of what he would get if his intoxication wasn't a contributing factor or proximate cause of the fall. and his percentage would likely go up if any prior complaints about the railing were made and if they did nothing to correct it or didnt put any warnings up...but like most cases, there are 100's of facts that could influence it either way. also, the old guy would likely have a claim against lsu and the drunk.

and by the way, im a personal injury defense attorney so don't think i believe its right for him to collect, this is just the most likely scenario given the limited facts, and 10 other lawyers would probably give 10 different outcomes

That kid had knee surgery about a week ago and his knee gave out as he was walking up the stairs to his seat, so he had to get carried back out.

I was sitting one section over. Not saying this kid wasn't drunk. I am saying he was slouched over and couldn't hold his upper torso up the whole time he was being taken out on a stretcher. His facial expression was a blank stare. Maybe he wasn't drunk........maybe he had one too many Lortabs.
