That is the price of quality starting catching with an additional year of team control. The trade market for quality starting catching was almost non-existent and those two players would command a high price in return. Rather easy to understand.

Rutschman has had 2 sub par years the last 2 years Go check his stats out. How he was an All-Star this year was mind boggling. His better days might be past him. And he only played in 90 games in 2025 and he's on the DL as i type this. I would take Eyanson over a catcher who is declining it looks like any day of the week. I don't care how many All Star games Rutschman got selected in.

Never said he was declining or washed. I said he was average to below average in hitting. I never mentioned his defense because it is irrelevant since the catcher Boston gave away in Narvaez didn't have issues defensively. Adley has an issue being available and doesn't have pop, hes an average to below average hitter. Maybe you were responding to someone else but don't put words in peoples mouths.

This year. there are only 6 catchers in baseball who hit home runs at a higher rate than Ruschman. He has the 5th highest OPS among catchers. That's not an average to below average hitter
