If Miles was still there LSU would not be 8 and 2. At best 7 and 3
There is absolutely no possible way to know this.
You're absolutely right, there isn't. But you do admit we would not be 10-0 or even 9-1 right? And you may not agree with it but the fact is Miles did not get fired bc we thought we would have an immediate upgrade, he got fired because we knew we would never see a change and people don't get excited about being second best every year fanbases get excited about the legitimate chance at being the very best in a few years.

This was Miles problem the last few years of his tenure when he hired Studrawa and then Cameron.

Studs was part of the 2007 SEC Champ/NC staff, plus OC for the 2011 team that won another SEC Champ and played in another NC.
Studs and Cameron have been OC for 2 of the Top 5 scoring offenses in LSU history.

Then why did we hire Orgeron?
He's the one who said the goal was to have a championship program "very fast".

Agreed. It's not like Les promoted him like Orgeron did with Ensminger.
Stud got thrown into it due to the unfortunate situation with Kragthorpe. He did admirably, considering the circumstances.

You honestly don't believe there were plenty of candidates, with better coaching resumes than Orgeron when he was hired?
you honestly don't believe there was NO inquiring about candidates, and NO money/effort spent for the search on the most important hire? A hire thats was buzzing so hard there was a meeting at halftime in 2015 A&M game. What else were all the people paid doing besides, market research, evaluate prospective interest, exhaust means to get top targets, etc..

Honestly, no I don't believe there was much of a search. If you have been around this board during those times, there is constantly names leaking. No search has gone by without at least a few posters nailing the hire. All you heard was Jimbo, Herman and Orgeron.
Did they do any other research? I'm sure they did, but there were 3 candidates for the job considered, and that's it.

To my eyes, the current Tigers are among the best-coached teams around. Penalties and busted plays are down, kicking/special teams play has gone from poor to great, turnover margin may lead nation. Game and clock management angst has disappeared from discussion. Record has exceeded preseason forecast. Only a handful of teams doing better and they'll all be in the playoffs. What is lacking, hopefully to no one's surprise, is superior or Sunday-caliber talent on the offense. The line is mediocre and the skill guys are pedestrian. They're probably getting close to the most out of what they have and who they are. Miles' later teams had better physical material that suffered from poor grooming. These aren't things I know, just what I've seen.

miles scored more points against Bama in one game than O has in three games.

I'm no coach and many of you on here can analyze the plays called and what did or didn't happen on every play. For me I enjoy the entertainment of the game.
But I think I can tell the differences in the attitude of a team. As Saban is the example of what most coaches would like to emulate, I don't see that same fire in Coach O and Steve E. Saban wants and gets 60 minutes of football whether the starting unit is in or the reserves or in. Surely that attitude is picked up by the players.
I'm sure there's more to the current play than just the attitude but for me it's a big issue. I wished we could have gotten more proven coaches at HC and OC but I supported both of them until this last game.
While I was never a star in the game, the philosophy was to play for 60 minutes whether it was 60 to 0 and no matter whether it was the starting unit or the reserves. Maybe it's just me? I'll just go back to reading!

99% of y'all wanted Miles fired. Now you want O fired. You'll want the next SOB fired. By then, I'll be gone and it won't matter but my grandsons will probably want that guy fired.
Fickle bunch, all who predicted LSU would be at the bottom of the SEC this year.
When O took over and Ensminger threw to a tight end after all those Les years you were shouting from the roof top.
Never happy.
Now, if we DON'T improve next year...........

Which was good enough for a win in Tuscaloosa. But cling on to your two home shut outs against them. We comin!

There is 12 pages. If you could find where I said I wanted Orgeron fired anywhere in this thread, I'll never post again.
Just because I think he never should have been hired, doesn't mean I think he is at the point of firing.
