This is still an ongoing Federal investigation and trial. I've never heard of pertinent information made public when an investigation and trial are ongoing. So my question is, exactly who has leaked this information about Wade? I'm sure it violates some law to do so. I mean, if Wade were to be charged how could he get a fair trial. I believe the defense attorney is the culprit. But couldn't he be charged with something. Finebaum says it's the FBI, that they are trying to put pressure on Wade to reveal where the money comes from. This is stupid, they know where the money came from.

Probably those who were recruiting Smart and couldn't sign him.

Pretty sure it was the defense. They, and the the FBI, are the only ones that had access. It makes no sense that the FBI would leak those tapes.

Finebaum is a moron that sees the world through crimson glasses. He's probably privately wishing for LSU to get the death penalty.

I suspect the defense.

If not then I would say college basketball deep state, mafia, whatever you wanna call the powers that be are the ones involved.

Wade is not “one of them” and is a threat to them.

Not possible. How would they have access to the FBI's wiretap? It had to have been the FBI or the defense, and I seriously doubt it was the FBI.

Defense team: Steve Haney

100%

They got in trouble in the first trial for doing the same thing ... also with Yahoo...

quote:

the Feb. 28 meeting, Assistant U.S. Attorney Edward Diskant told U.S. District Judge Edgardo Ramos that the discovery materials mentioned in Yahoo’s story could have been leaked only by someone who was directly involved in defending or prosecuting the case. Diskant said the documents posted in Yahoo’s story bore a stamp that could have come only from an attorney involved. “We have not provided any of this material to anyone else who is not a party to the case,” Diskant, the federal government’s attorney, said. “So the only people who could possibly have access to the documents provided to Yahoo Sports are the attorneys for the government and their support staff and the attorneys for the defendants and their support staff.” Diskant said the government attempted to interview “every single member” of the U.S. attorney’s investigative team and found no reason to believe the leak came from within the office. “That only leaves defense counsel,” Diskant said, explaining that the government thinks the defendants “believe it to be in their advantage to highlight for the public the fact that ... money changes hands improperly in college sports has been happening frequently and rampantly and that others are involved, including others who have not yet been charged.”

Haney has said he will burn down college basketball in order to save his client. Expect more to come.

No, that's not what I'm saying. Do you normally put words in the mouths of others? In THIS CASE, I highly doubt the FBI leaked the tapes. Is that clear enough for you?

Won’t do anything to help his client, but thanks for taking us down with him. Now he better do the same with everyone else involved.

The Hayride piece suggested it is almost certainly Haney (the defense counsel).

Question for one of the lawyers on the board: Can leaking this info lead to someone associated with the defense being held in contempt?

If he is going to burn it down he needs to get to fricking burning!!

Unfortunately this probably won't help CWW when it comes to dealing with F. King and Alleva.

There is no "leak". This is a criminal trial. Lawyers can do whatever they want with the evidence gleaned during the case, including file it in the public record. There's no secrecy unless the case is under seal, which this one isn't.

I don't think they had access to the FBI wire taps.

LOL I suppose he didn't like LSU beating the Tide twice this basketball season. He sure won't like what's coming next football season.

But it won’t work. Prosecutors will only build their resilience to prosecute on their terms. They have no incentive to swerve in this game of chicken.

At this point, the defense strategy is pure theater.
