Every good quarterback under Les Miles didn't spend his first 2 years with him

JaMarcus Russell. Matt Flynn. Zach Mettenberger.

Danny Etling didn't either.

Is there some type of correlation here?

ETA: Just for clarification, I am not stating that Danny Etling is in the category of good quarterbacks or even close at this point. I am only including the first three in that group. I am simply stating that Danny Etling shares that same fact as those three.

The second letter in every name is an "a." Also everyone name has a double consonant within.

Im not sure if the bigger problem is that we recruit shotgun-duel threats in high school to run pro style, or that whoever we recruit is simply not taught the transition from high school to college ball well enough. Either way, seems like they ough to give up on recruiting high schoolers and stick with pulling in transfer QBs that have already been properly coached through the transition.

Cool, except Miles isn't a QB coach........also RP said stfu.

ETA: Mett wasn't good enough to take the job from Lee or JJ who spent careers under a couple of Miles QB coaches, and improved greatly from '12 to '13. Correlate that shite.

I don't have a problem giving Miles credit for Flynn and Mett, but the overall criticism at the QB position still falls on his shoulders.

Even with Mett, his 2012 junior year was no more efficient than Harris was last year. Harris had a higher QB rating, more TDs, less INTs, and more yards per attempt. Matt was more accurate and we threw it 4 more times per game with Mett.

There has been exactly 3 years since the 2008 season when the LSU passer rating has been in the top 50:

49th @ 132.11 in 2009
24th @ 147.55 in 2011
6th @ 164.72 in 2013

If you want to play the way Miles plays, you can and should be efficient when you throw the ball. Stanford does it exceptionally well.

Perhaps Miles and the staff have run into an all-time worst streak of QB recruiting:

2005
Perrilloux - 5*, #1 Dual-threat, #6 overall

2007
Lee - 4*, #8 Pro-style, #117 overall

2008
Jefferson - 3*, #12 Pro-style, #325 overall

2009
Sheppard - 5*, #1 Dual-threat, #3 overall
Garrett - 3*, #19 Pro-style, #482 overall

2010
Z. Lee - 3*, #18 Pro-style, #352 overall

2011
Mettenberger - 4*, #1 Pro-style, #4 overall (JUCO)
J. Randall - 4*, # 8 Dual-threat, #186 overall
Rivers - 3*, #19 Pro-style, #618 overall

2013
Rettig - 4*, #9 Pro-style, #152 overall
Jennings - 4*, #14 Pro-style, #214 overall

2014
Harris - 4*, #3 Dual-threat, #75 overall

All of those QBs combined for 1484/2584 - 57.4% - 19,717 yards - 141 TDs - 76 INTs and a passer rating of 133.6. As a group they would have been ranked 75th in the country in completion percentage last year. They would have ranked 54th in passer rating and 43rd in yards per attempt. Maybe it was the wrong guys. Maybe things didn't work out with Perrilloux and Z. Lee. At some point the overall performance has to matter though, and it hasn't been good.

There isn't a more appropriate word to describe LSU's passing game since 2007 than "mediocre".

This one VERY CLEARLY got better between his arrival and his departure. If you can't admit this you are lying to yourself.

This one has played less than 45 minutes of football at LSU, and the last 30 of those he was 0-for-whatever with a pick and a fumble. Let's just ease up for a bit.

Just like Etling was good enough to start over Harris this past weekend?
