He can only have two paid assistants. Who should he drop? Alan Dunn or Nolan Cain?

What I really don't understand is people flipping out over dropping a game at this point in the year given where we currently stand. Everything is very much lined up for this team to finish at or near the top of the SEC, get a top 8 national seed and make it to Omaha yet again. Until we fail to do that, I don't see why people are so eager to pounce. I really don't get it. If this season winds up with another disappointing early postseason exit, OK - maybe it will be time to start looking elsewhere or to make some serious changes. But as of right now, I just don't understand the venom being thrown at Mainieri and the team.

Right now LSU is a good team, they're competitive and near the top of the SEC in W-L's. The problem is that they're very VERY inconsistent. No it's NOT "Just baseball." LSU is as weak as a newborn kitten at the bottom of their line up. They are underwhelming behind the plate and the pitching staff looks like a cast of extra's from TWD.

These are problems that must be resolved in order for LSU to reach the CWS. If LSU makes the CWS, PM will look like a genius despite the lofty pre season accolades.

Orgeron succeeds because he has great assistants. Name someone PM has, name an Aranda or Joe Brady, he has none. Every coach makes mistakes, when Paul's making a mistake, there's no one on his staff with the smarts to help correct them.

Orgeron didn’t hire Aranda.

Brady has yet to coach a game.

If you’re going to make statements such as this don’t be lazy comparing the two.

Is either of these guys like Coach O's assistant Aranda? Aranda has the talent to be LSU's head football coach. Would you want either of PM's guys as the head coach of our baseball team?

Hugh Freeze was a bad assistant... Orgeron hasn’t “succeeded” at anything. He had won 1 game over someone he was not expected to win against UGA. Period.

TAMU, UF, BAMA, etc are all I know I saw with only Bama being elite. The other losses in conference were expected from a mediocre coach at best and its Miles assistants. Maybe he will turn it around with Brady.

Stop the BS, answer the question! Who does PM have that compares to Aranda?

No, you didn't. "Make coaching changes" does not answer his question.

If you don't answer his question as to which coaching changes you think Mainieri should make then you're just a useless troll who is clueless about LSU baseball specifically and college baseball in general.

I'm willing to bet, based on your posts in this thread, that you don't even know who the LSU baseball assistant coaches are and which ones are considered assistant coaches by the NCAA, meaning they are allowed to recruit off-campus and get paid by LSU.

So fire both Dunn and Cain? Who do we replace them with?

Some guys lose their fire once they win a title and get complacent. That's what makes guys like $aban who are never satisfied so rare. They are miserable human beings, sure, but if all you care about is winning, he's your huckleberry.

2 weekends ago we won 2 out of 3, on the road, against the #2 team in the country.

I'm willing to bet this, if LSU recruited top-flight hitting and pitching coaches, PM would be coaching at LSU a long, long time, but if he doesn't, will end up like Miles. Anyone can clearly see this coaching staff isn't working out.

PM never sniffed greatness like Miles. Miles went undefeated in the regular season, beating Satan's (Saban) Alabama team at Alabama in the process. You suck at this!

Seriously?
They each have a national title and a runner-up finish. Les had two SEC titles. PM has 4 regular season titles and 6 SEC Tourney championships in the toughest baseball conference.
Mainieri inherited a mess from Smoke while Les was given the keys to a Ferrari.
Please don't show your ignorance any more. It's embarrassing.
