re: Even with loss, are we in?

There is so much love for LSU right now. If you guys lose Saturday and win out, you are in the CFP.
If we lose, we are out!
Everyone is sick and tired of Bama. To be honest, if I had not gone there and had 2 kids there right now, I would be sick and tired of us too!

Isn’t that kind of a circular argument? I mean they are not going to get all 4 teams wrong but you could quibble with a couple of spots including last year OU over UGA but that was 1 loss vs 2.
1 loss vs 2. That's the key there. I'm not saying they didn't get a few of the 4 teams wrong. I'm saying that they have gotten all four teams right, in my opinion, since the CFP began.

We haven’t seen them pick a 1 loss team that didn’t win a conference over a 1 loss team that did so imo it’s hard to say since they do say conference titles are 1 thing they will look at.
I think we will see it come down to that this year, so perhaps we will see. I 100% agree that conference title is ONE thing they should look at. My whole argument is that if it's the only thing a team has over LSU, then that shouldn't keep LSU out.

I agree that if Bama loses, they should be out, barring some craziness happening. I don't think the reasoning is because people are sick of Bama though. When you stack some of those potential one loss teams against Bama, the resume will compare. Not many resumes from that group will compare with LSU.

Is it too much to ask for Harbaugh to go out with a bang and beat thos SOBs'?

I agree, but only if you beat us. Your best win is against FL and if you beat aubarn. We play aubarn too.
I don't consider your win against a #9 Texas as anything special. No more than our win against #3 FSU in 2017 when they fell out of the rankings too like Texas this year.

I am not saying resumes are not important, but this committee is looking at performance on the field not matter who it is against. OSU has dominated everyone they have played more so than anyone else. To be fair LSU hasn't looked as impressive as they did not as they did the 1st part of the season.

Ok. So let's use this argument.
LSU has not finished with a dominating score against Auburn. Won 23-20. Auburn was a top 10 team at the time, and will probably finish the season in the 15 range, worst case. For the sake of this thread, we will assume LSU loses a close game to Bama and looks solid the rest of the way.
Now let's do Oklahoma...
Lost to K State. That's going to be a worse loss than Bama, no matter how you slice it. A lot will depend on how they do against Baylor coming up, and then TCU, OSU, title game. There biggest test are ahead of them.
Oregon...
- lost to Auburn, who LSU beat.
- 17-7 against Cal. Not an impressive looking win.
- 35-31 against Washington. Not an impressive looking win.
- 37-35 over Wazu. Not an impressive looking win.
Utah....
- lost to USC. Compare that to an LSU loss.
- 33-28 win over Washington. Not impressive win.
So, even if we want to do the LSU hadn't looked as impressive game, it can't be looked at in a vacuum, while not looking at other teams "non impressive" wins.

Gotta beat Bama now to see the play offs!
After AU plays Bama and UGA they be 8-4 thus will no longer be a quality win.

You tell us, you are the doctor. Reading your post history you were sure right about O being an utter failure at LSU.

I wasn't talking about Bama in teams I was comparing LSU too. They will have the head to head match up for that. Not really going to be much of a need to go further into that.

Auburn will always be looked at as a solid win. I think they will beat UGA, and have a shot against Bama.

It happens when you play better teams. Ohio State will find that out when they play someone.

This has been a solid thread filled with discussion, and differing opinions. Why try to turn it into this?

I did not even bring those teams up.... I was brining up the fact that OSU has looked dominant in every game............ LSU looked like crap against MSU and YES they got over 500 yards against AU but did not dominate... OSU has made every game look easy...........
Posted on 11/6/19 at 6:15 pm to DeltaDoc
Can't count on anything. Just win out.
Posted on 11/6/19 at 6:15 pm to oOoLsUtIgErSoOo
I think we will be the victim of politics if we lose.
TX, Auburn, and FL won't get us in over Conference champions.
How do you explain to the Pac 10 or Big 12 that they get no one while the SEC gets two?
I'm not arguing who is better or more deserving---I'm just putting it out there that there will be other considerations.

Well you were responding to me, and that's the teams I was talking about, so I assumed.

I've been on this board for two days saying the same thing, trying to stop people from killing themselves because OSU is ranked #1.

In YOUR eyes yes.... But the committee may not think that way... What im talking about is the eye test and FINAL SCORE..... I doubt they care that LSU got 500 yards they will look more that LSU only won by three..............

Very possible.....

This all depends what Bama is playing for.................
