but taking OSU over Penn St showed different. PSU's horrible loss to Michigan kept them out.

What does PENN St. have to do with this thread???????????????

If we win out there is a legitimate chance we'll only have two wins over a ranked team all year. Combine that with our 2 bad losses and not picking LSU is pretty fair.

It's hard to imagine LSU winning out with Bama and UGA out there, but if LSU pulled a miracle and did win out, they would probably be the only team with two wins against top 5 teams. Auburn or aTm will probably finished ranked in the top 25 as well. An 8-game winning streak to end the season with Ws against Bama and UGA in Atlanta would be pretty impressive. They would start talking about how Guice and Williams were both injured early on, defensive players were hurt/out, etc., early in the year. But that would be a miracle scenario and miracle #1 would be beating Bama. It's a damn-near miracle that LSU is playing Bama in two weeks basically for the upper hand in the West.

bullshite.

They would have beaten an undefeated, No. 1 Bama at home, and an undefeated No.2 UGA in the SECCG.

They would be No. 4, but they would be in there.

ETA: I don't believe this will happen.

We're in if we win out. Keeping the SEC champ out of the play-offs would be the demise of the system!

FiveThirtyEight's models have us with a 71% chance of making the playoffs if we were to win out. It's not as cut and dry as this board would have you believe.

If we win out we are SEC champs. Leave them out if the playoffs and viewership and credibility will tank.

If we win out, Bama goes to the playoffs from the sec.
They would be a one loss team with the only loss to the SEC champs.
LSU has two losses to moo U and Troy.

WEll Washington already has A loss... So there that goes.... However... LSU winning out will matter little IF they have 4 other conferece winners with only ONE LOSS... THAT Troy loss would be huge........

Sorry. Bf on Washington.

so let's revise my statement. ACC and Big 10 champ in automatic with 1 loss or undefeated as previously stated

So let's say that leaves a 1-loss PAC 10 champ, undefeated TCU and LSU with loss vs Troy wins vs top 6 Bama UGA. It is in NO WAY a given that those two teams get in over LSU...and I'd go so far as to say LSU would be the safest bet of the three to get in.

Again, I hope we are having this argument in December.

Who is talking about playoffs? We just want to win and have a good season.

Revise your question. You lost me.

I merely stated my opinion that beating Bama would mean more to our fan base than winning the playoffs at this point. Neither is very likely this year.

11-1 Alabama goes over 11-2 LSU.

Also, 11-1 Georgia probably would too.

We'd definitely need Alabama to lose to Auburn, as well.

IF LSU wins out OR Georgia beats an undefeated Bama in the SECCG, Bama and SEC champ are both in. Have you seen the rest of CFB? B1G champ going to be OSU with the egg they laid against Oklahoma. Clemson or VT is going to win the ACC both will have 1 loss. Pac 12? LOL.

I feel like this whole discussion is like “what I would do if I won the lottery...”
