Sure he is. He's not great, he's got limitations but he's good

Imagine if he had time and more than 1 reliable WR. He'd be an all conference player. These people who say he has no arm or whatever don't kno what they're talking about, he was a top 10 QB recruit in his class a 4 star guy and on any scouting report you'll find his arm is rated as above avg to strong. The weak arm thing is a Rant myth this guy has completed more long passes than anybody outside of Mett and Jruss in the last 10+ seasons with 1 deep threat. Etlings limitations are time in the pocket and targets to throw too that's it.

WR has been the biggest disappointment this year. The offensive line has improved a little.

No he floats deep balls and is terrible inaccurate with slants and driving throws.

But he got heart

Well that's just not true most of the time he can't step into throws because he's getting crushed by a pass rusher and anytime he has time he puts balls on the money. Perfect example was tnite on re Chark pass he was absolutely hammered while releasing the ball amd couldn't step into the throw, it was short and the Rant blamed him lol then he had a clean pocket and dropped one right into Sullivan's hands which was dropped. It's takes a lazy and ignorant person not to see what's happening around him and simply blame the QB anytime things don't go perfectly. This game was a perfect example of it. We couldn't pass pro on regular drops so we went to short drops then WRs dropped balls so we adjusted and went to the swing route and it paid off. Thankfully you guys aren't coaches and ours actually see things and adjust.

Have you seen Etling check out of a single pass play this season? I'll put it this way, if LSU has to bring the same pass plays from tonight in 2 weeks he won't survive. Sullivan and Davis need to get their shite straight or find something else to do. It's not that complicated.

His passer rating is better this season is 3rd all time at LSU so far. Better than Rohan Daveys sr. year, better than Matt Maucks sr. year, better than Flynns better than Herbs better than Tommy Hodsons. The only 2 guys who've had a better Passer rating are Mett and Jruss and Etling is doing it under constant pressure with only 1 legitimate WR on the roster. People who are knocking Etling simply don't know what they're looking at.

You don't know if he's checking out of plays or not, none of us do. The things he's doing with the tools he's afforded are so under appreciated it's sad. I do agree with you about Sullivan and Davis though it's criminal for guys that athletic to be so inept. These are tight end size WRs in college and should be easily converting 3rd and mediums for us but they do more harm than good on anything other than fly routes. Gage has nice hands but has either a concentration or confidence issue on key catches. The only guy I've seen look comfortable running routes and catching underneath stuff outside of Chark is Dillon. Maybe he or Moreau need to see more targets so we can add a complementary WR to Chark.

Two words can only explain how a qb's rating can get better yet have no WR's catch any passes

Well they did drop a touchdown pass and then on the next play drop a first down catch as well.

This is such BS.

It’s the people citing stats as evidence of Etling’s ability who don’t know what they are looking at.

Mett, Jamarcus, Rohan could all put the team in their back and win a game with their arm. Even Herb Tyler could be more than a game manager and actually win a game for you.

Etling has not and cannot. Sorry you don’t like it but we’ve seen him for 2 years now and he has never put the team in his shoulders and won when the rest of the offense wasn’t working.

And before you point to Auburn last week, defense and special teams win that game.

His QB rating is good because Canada has limited the playbook and won’t call plays that Danny can’t execute. Which seems to be most of the passing playbook.

Sure Etling is smart, tough, has heart and hasn’t made game costing mistakes. But he isn’t going to make a big play when we need t to win a game.

He is not gonna lead this team to a win vs Bama. Believe me if we beat Bama it will somehow be in spite of Etling not becau of him.

90% of the time he doesn't even have time to hit his back foot on his drops. It's amazing he's able to do what he does plus he doesn't panic and throw pics. He has 1 turnover that came on a desperation throw while getting crushed at the end of a game that's it, 1 turnover while operating in a passing game with no protection and no options. Anyone who's ever played the position or coached offensive football knows how hard it is to do what he's doing and pull out enough plays to win games. He maybe the most underrated and underapreciated player LSU has ever had.

Fact, he does not recognize pre-snap pressure worth a shite. He acts shocked when a guy is on his arse when he should have seen them walking up, twisting or stunting. It's not all on the OL, yet the OL rarely gets credible help from the TE or RB. I think there is a lot of luck embedded in his rating.

Not a shred of truth in your post and predicting that even if we'd win you'll give him no credit just proves your bias as if denying facts doesn't already.

Lol just because you say the word fact doesn't confirm it to be a fact, evidence does which you've provided none of. The only facts presented in this discussion have been dismissed by you and like minded fans which proves that opinion not facts dictate your position.

Have to say, Canada has seemingly improved a very average talented qb in Etling.

DE is still a very average QB but tough.
DE led us to 3 straight SEC wins--props to him.

The OC scheme has helped the offense by keeping the defense spread out across the field even with our below average passing game.

Look we are doing pretty good considering we have an average QB, a lot of Freshmen on the OL and an injured DL. We will struggle with any team that has a good running game and a decent defense. Bama probably beats us by 28 or more.

If we beat A&M, Arky and Tenn and go on to have a good recruiting year this season has been great.

I like his heart but he can't throw it 30 yds. It just kills any chance against bama. He's gonna have to throw but if he can't complete a pass downfield against ole miss , with a rushing game of over 400 yds, no chance when bama shuts rush down.
