compare that with this and tell me we're running plays from the same playbook

someone with an astute football eye, compare the personnel package, the formation, the routes, etc

its more than just checkdowns (or lack thereof)

This guy is so much more of a gamer than BH right now it is no competition. Except in Les's mind.

I'm not sure what point people harping on this are trying to make. There really are only 2 options:

1. Les/Cam are obviously, purposely, maliciously hindering BH's production by calling crappy plays and/or the same ole vanilla plays (that he still can't execute).

2. Les/Cam are trying to keep it vanilla because BH can't execute -- the boy is psyching himself out and they don't want to compound the problem by runnings more elaborate plays.

Which is it, Stu?

I really liked what he did in the throw to Jeter that got called back. Moves out of the pocket, tucks the ball as he runs to avoid the rush, and then pulls up and throws a dart to Jeter.

Notice the word "may" in the title..

Well, its good that some have learned their lesson from a few years ago. That, and too many people here have short term memory. "Holy crap we may have a QB" is almost the exact thing everyone was saying at the end of the 2013 Arky game about Jennings when Mett went out.

Harris is obviously not the answer. But until Etling plays legitimate competition,

The thing about a few of his bad passes, is that while they weren't thrown ideal, they were thrown to a much larger receiver in single coverage....those should have been catches. Good receivers make those catches or get PI penalties called. Good God Dupre has to step it up.

dont know what the motivations are in his pea brain

but I dont buy into his narrative that they are running the same set of plays, only with a different operator

tin foil hat theory: Miles is so bound and determined to create an identity through a power running game, Harris' ability with his feet gives him a better chance to keep running the ball, over Etling. Miles thinks he's going to use the run to set-up the run

Completions:

1/2 7 yds - 7 yards to D. Williams.

2/4 19 yds - 12 yards to D. Williams. Good job getting it off after the pressure. Cracks me up to see Williams lumber down the field.

3/5 65 yds - 46 yards to D. Smith. Nice play call that put a ton of pressure on the left side of the defense to make all the correct decisions. Smith snuck through. Great protection too, particularly picking up the late blitzer.

4/6 70 yds - 5 yard pass to Dural. Nothing fancy here.

5/7 82 yds - 12 yard pass to Chark. I can't tell you how happy it makes me to see the play call roll a right handed QB to the right. Why they insist on rolling QBs to the left when they're right handed is mind numbing to me.

6/8 100 yds - 18 yard pass to Guice. IDK what the frick is going on here. Screen? Not really sure as everyone seems to be trying to pass block, but for the sake of the OL let's call it a screen play considering the multiple whiffs. Nice job getting it out to Guice under pressure regardless.

Not a bad showing at all. Good job under pressure on a few of these completions and seemed to find the open man fairly quickly.

Incompletions:

0/1 - Intended for Jeter. Broken up.

1/3 7 yds - Intended for Dupre. Live I thought it was a bit behind him, but honestly IDK what kind of adjustment Dupre made here. Outright drop regardless.

6/9 100 yds - INT intended for Dupre. Early pressure likely screwed up this whole play. The timing was off and the ball was too late and under thrown. You'd like to see more of an effort from Dupre to knock this one down but that ball needs more air on it for a jump ball or to be farther in front or farther to the right to give Dupre a real chance at a catch. Let me also point out how much I hate long developing, 2 man routes off of a PA look when your OL is mediocre at best and there is no intermediate option.

6/10 100 yds - Good job by the OL. Another wide open wheel route from out RBs (apparently a play we like). Gotta put this one on Guice's body and give him a chance. Looks like Etling got caught up stepping up in the pocket and threw unbalanced which likely explains the inaccuracy.

6/11 100 yds - People are calling this a drop on Dupre, and while I won't go that far since the defender got his hand in there, you'd really like to see this pass get hauled in. Safe to say this is probably as far as Etling can sling it, but 55 yards is nothing to sneeze at.

6/12 100 yds - Just a bad pass. It happens. No biggie.

6/13 100 yds - Whew. This had pick 6 written all over it. I'm sure Etling was surprised by the defender slowing up to play the screen, but you'd like to see this ball thrown into the ground than risk the INT there. Probably got away with one here.

6/14 100 yds - Glad to hear Dupre and Etling were working after practice because this isn't even close. Dupre actually did a nice job against JSU getting separation, but his skills catching the ball and in the air left a bit to be desired. This one is on Etling though.

I count 6 poor passes on 19 total drop backs. Promising at times though, and there is no denying the spark he brought in the 2nd quarter. On a team missing Fournette I think they needed a vocal leader out there and Etling did that to help put the game out of reach.

ETA: Before anyone flips out, the bad passes I see are the PI pass play in the 2nd quarter (below), the Guice pass, the pass to Moore, the ill-advised screen pass, the last pass to Dupre, and the INT to Dupre. Dupre's failure to knock it down doesn't change the fact that the pass itself was poor.

Other:

PI call. Dupre has his man beat like a drum and this ball really needs to be out in front of him near the middle/left side of the goal post. Got bailed out by the PI here. Dupre and Etling seem to be on a different page with these deep routes as you'll see later in the game.

Scramble on 2nd and 12. I'm going to assume everyone is covered because the protection was good enough to find someone. Nice job of making something out of nothing and picking up 10 yards for a manageable 3rd down.

Pass to Jeter with the OL holding call. Hate to see pressure when they only rush 4. Good job of creating with his feet while keeping an eye on Jeter for the dump off. When the QB leaves the pocket holding will always be a concern though. Shouldn't have come to that in the first place.

2 yard rushing TD. Nice job of seeing the defense recover and committing to the run immediately. No need to force one there when a rush will do just fine.

Fumble. Bad effort from Weathersby here. We seem to have an issue picking up the outside rush when the TE goes out for a pass. That kind of mishap against Auburn's DEs will be devastating.

Playing Devil's Advocate here. I'm a little more worried after I saw this clip actually. Once he took a few hits, that's when his passes started to get a little wild and his footwork got a little sloppy.

Also, wtf Malachi? Catch the damn ball. It isn't much of a stretch to accuse him of intentionally playing sloppy to make Etling look worse.

Great job on the videos. Anyone notice how all his bad throws wer to dupree. One was a straight up drop, three others were toss ups and the dbs made some good plays.

I'm excited about the possibilities, but there were more than three bad passes.
1. Overthrew the fullback
2. Underthrew Malachi on the interception
3. Hit a defensive lineman in the face
4. Badly overthrew a deep route on the left sideline
5. Bomb to Malachi in the end zone. Drew interference, but it was a bad throw. Malachi was slowing down for the ball, which was why he drew contact.
6. Overthrew Guice on the wheel route.

I don't believe that's the case. I think Dupre is frustrated because he's getting separation and both Harris and Etling are having trouble getting him easy balls. He has to come up with a one or two every so often, but outside of the blatant drop in the 2nd quarter, he had his man beat for 3 TDs and the ball was either late or under thrown. He shouldn't let his frustrations there impact his ability to catch the ones that hit him in the hands, but intentionally playing poorly is a huge stretch IMO.
