Ummm no. You realize we have missed at least 5 TDs this season this season because the lack of arm strength?

Danny’s a warrior but he ain’t a good QB.

Danny wasn't the main problem in either of our two losses this year, and he won't be the reason we lose to Alabama. With an elite OL, Danny would be a top 5 QB in the conference.

He also isn’t making a lot of throws.

Can’t get the ball deep.

A few drops are behind too, they should still be caught but he isn’t super accurate.

He also locks and misses open recievers.

we're not settling for shite asshat. it's the best we got at the moment. somebody on LSU's team has to play that position you know. they won't let us borry these all world qb's from other schools.

I could be wrong but he seemed more accurate last year but he's still getting the job done. I wish they would let him throw downfield more.

He still holds onto the ball too long and misses wide open targets unless they are the first read. He seems to be getting more confidence now though. Since the oline has improved some and because the offense is settling into Canadas system nicely

A lot of the “Oline issues” that tRant loves to complain about is all Etling.

He panics if his first read isn’t open. He doesn’t progress through his reads. He doesn’t step up in the pocket. He lacks arm strength. He throws late way too often.

What he does do well is not make many awful mistakes and seems to be a good leader and teammate.

He completes 54% of his passes and throws for 167 yards a game in SEC play. He’s not a good qb, when you’re greatest attribute is you’re “tough as nails” that’s not a good indication that you’re a good qb.

He’s not bad so to speak, but he’s not good neither.

Would have loved to him audible out inside the 5 Saturday night after Ole Miss stacked the line with everyone.

Unfortunately, that is sheer conjecture and more of an indictment of the quality of QBs in the SEC than it is about Etling's abilities.

Lack of natural ability? Have you personally measured any of this? Because scouts say his arm is above avg to strong and he's thrown balls that have traveled over 55 yards in the air this year and last at LSU so the weak arm theory is totally false.

Seems like there is more support for Etling than not on here. Unfortunately there are a handful of people on here that use their eyeballs and can see that Etling is not very good.

Do you think Danny will get drafted?

Can't get the deep ball? Here's some stats you'll find surprising but football people aren't shocked by.
Pass plays of over 40 yards in a season

Rohan Davey 2001 - 13 games 8 pass plays over 40 yards
Matt Mauck 2003 - 14 games 9 pass plays over 40 yards
Jamarcus Russell 2006 - 13 games 9 pass plays over 40
Matt Flynn 2007 - 14 games 8 pp over 40 yards
Zach Mettenberger 2013 - 13 games 9 pp over 40 yards
Danny Etling 2017 - 8 games 10 pass plays over 40 yards

And Etling is doing it with no Oline and 1 WR, you people don't have a clue what you're talking about.

Probly not but he'll get a look in camp or pre season from someone.

I guess so, most think he is terrible. Not from a mental game knowledge standpoint, but from a I can't throw it 20 yrs or more and if I do, it's underthrown, standpoint.

Bama will force that. They can afford to make a mistake or 2.

Etling isn't the problem.
