I predict he will be our 1st baseman next year

I prefer Pearson’s bat towards the bottom of the order over Stanny.

Why? Stanfield is hitting better than Pearson in SEC play.

Stanfield in SEC Play - 7/25 (0.280 BA), 5 2B, 3 BB, 2 HBP, 1 RBIs, 8 runs scored, 0.400 OBP. 10 Ks on 30 PAs, 0.480 SLG%, Runs Produced 9

Pearson in SEC Play - 5/25 (0.200 BA), 1 HR, 1 BB, 2 HBP, 3 RBIs, 6 runs scored, 0.276 OBP. 7 Ks on 29 PAs, 0.320 SLG%, Runs Produced 8

I feel like Stanny is most likely to return to the mean as a .270 hitter on the SEC,

Right now Pearson is hitting .200 in SEC play so

and since he has no power

That's why he is hitting in the 9 spot

and his speed doesn’t really translate on the base paths

Sure it has.

I’m just not sure he gives this team enough to play every day long term.

He gives as much as Pearson right now and he is a better fielder.

It's much easier to make the case for Frey and Brown to replace Pearson, IMO.

I feel like deep down there's an incentive for Jay to not start playing him every day until the postseason to make sure his stats stay modest enough to get him back for next year.

If Frey becomes a full time DH, he will transfer after season.

Do you follow LSU baseball like even a little bit, Frey has had two off-seasons to transfer and refreshingly has stuck it out. He would have landed on his feet as a newcomer at most programs.

Wouldn’t surprise me, especially if he gets a lot of reps in the offseason at 1B. I like the upside and potential of Costello too.

Wtf does this even mean? He runs fast all the time but slows down running the bases?

Why do yall just pick random cliches and throw them out there?

Frey needs to be in the lineup every day. The question is do you play Pearson or Brown in RF

This.

6’6” raw athletic Mr. Baseball/Football with high ceiling/potential that displays power and is ok in field and doesn’t let ground balls go between his legs highest earning/bonus chance will be this 2025 draft.

If he’s here in 2026, DH him all you want; it won’t matter.

It's based on pitching match up.

Frey DHs against lefties and Pearson against Righties.

I realize that.
I’m just saying I think Frey deserves a chance to DH against righties too, considering how good he’s been up to this point.
Give him a few starts against righties to see what he can do.

Yep agree you have to give him some ABs against righties and if he produces then he's the DH the rest of the way

I spoke it into existence.
Frey is starting tonight with a righty on the mound for State.

And he gets a nice slap! Hell yeah!
He’s making his case to stay in the lineup.
