Stanfield has been one of the best hitters on the team in SEC play. He is hitting over .300 with 5 doubles in 9 games.
You also just took your best defensive outfielder out of the field
The second part is what a lot of folks on here underrate. When a fast CF, like Stanfield, sprints 60 yards and catches a fly ball without diving most people don’t realize that a replacement might not have even touched that ball. In some cases his speed is taking doubles away.
Plus, as you point out, he is getting hits, driving in runs and getting on base to set the table for the top of our lineup. I like Stanfield at CF a lot.

Frey seems like a really nice kid. I got matched up with him one day on the golf course. He hit the ball a mile, and had the purest short iron and chipping game of anyone I’ve ever played with. It was really fun to watch. I hope he has continued success.

Stanfield shouldn't be getting any more playing time than those other guys.
Probably best to stay out of the thread with this take. The best lineup is Curiel, Stanfield, Brown with Frey DH’ing. The Pearson fan boys will chime in with how “clutch” he is, but baseball is about what have you done for me lately. People living on a few plays Pearson has made over the years, but the goal is Omaha and a natty THIS YEAR. Numbers don’t lie.

I think some of you need to understand Jay's mindset on Josh Pearson. Josh will always continue to get some AB, regardless of what people say or want on here. He trusts him, and he's come through for him in some big spots in the past. Yes Josh is more limited baseball wise than some other players, but if we're being honest he's not going to suddenly forget he exists and bat Frey every single game at DH, or have Brown on the bench to get Josh OF reps, etc...Josh wil continue to play, he's struggled in SEC play to start but he will continue to get ABs and reps in SEC games, count on it.
Dont forget Josh went 2 for 4 with in that opening game against MSU where runs were at a premium this past weekend, Jay remembers stuff like that.

I get your point and agree. I just get frustrated with some of the takes on here…but that’s tRant. I know Pearson isn’t going away in Jay’s eyes, but we all know he doesn’t always give us the best chance to win.

I'm okay with them platooning, but left handed hitters struggle more with left handed pitchers than right handed hitters do in a righty on righty matchup. So if Frey is hot, leave him in against righties.

Do you fail to remember the crucial role he played in in winning us a natty and how clutch he was that season when called upon? Pearson will always have a part in this season
Only players that perform inconsistently seem to have “it” !
When they play poorly, it’s ok, because they just have “it”.

Personally, I think it's in LSU's best interest to give Frey as many AB's as possible. He's already having a very good season, but I could see him blowing up and taking it to another level.

I agree with what you said about Jay's mindset on Pearson. But your statement that I quoted above kinda shows the mentality of the rant. Pearson is 5 for 25 in SEC play this year, but some fans will hang on to the one 2 for 4 game against MSU while ignoring the rest of his body of work. In fact, Jake Brown went 2 for 3 with a BB in that same game, and no one needed to bring it up. Why? B/c when a player like Brown goes 2 for 3, we ignore it off b/c it's not uncommon. Pearson goes 2-4, and "Jay remembers stuff like".

Jake has been far too consistent at the plate to be stuck in a DH rotation. Although, the experience of Pearson may likely shine in the end. But as far as I can see, Brown should remain in RF majority of the time.

Frey looks better at the plate and on the base path. I believe Frey is faster than Pearson

Yeah I don’t think the matchup should matter at this point. Frey should get the nod at DH until proven otherwise
Frey has earned the DH spot full time now. Its either Pearson or Brown in RF. Personally i prefer Pearson but i know he's struggling some right now

Whenever you hear Jay talk about Josh, it's almost always the same thing. "He comes through as much as anyone in the clutch". "Made for big moments" etc...Mentions the big moments specifically he's had here.
This is how Jay sees him, and another thing I think people are discounting is Josh is the only senior on this team who has been here all 4 years. The other 3 (Hernandez, Beck, Braswell) were all transfers, and I think he likes to keep someone like that, who also has some big moments around and playing some for the culture/team building aspect.
This isnt my personal opinion on Josh, I've stated many times in the past I think we have better players than him and he shouldnt play as much as a result, but I've come to completely understand why Jay also keeps playing him more than people might expect for reasons like above, and thats hard to quantify for us people who just stat sheet scan.
The best news here is Josh is not an everyday player, so while we can sit here and say he's taking opportunities away from others we feel like should play more, they are still getting opportunities and plenty of them (unless you are still a big Larson fan and who knows whats going to happen with him at this point).

The Pearson show needs to be over if we want to win natty
I can't remember a player who made more key plays at the plate and in the field, that got more shite from fans.
Without Pearson's key plays in the World Series, Johnson would have no WS Championships.
He's been clutch.

Brown does get the vast majority of the OF starts. Brown has 20 starts, Josh just 9. However Brown doesnt really DH (1 start) and Josh absolutely does (8 starts). Frey does have the most DH starts at 13. So Brown isnt really caught up in a DH rotation of any kind, he usually just sits when Josh starts in the OF basically.
At this point it basically looks like this:
- When Brown starts in OF, Josh or Frey will start at DH
- When Josh starts in the OF, Frey will start at DH

Frey did get the start on Sat game despite Miss St throwing a RHP
Both will continue to see time
You can add Jake Brown to the mix as well
Those three will all continue to get time
the good thing is you have options
don't be shocked if Brown goes to CF with Pearson in right at times as well although Stanfield has had his moments

yalls blind love for Pearson is hilarious to me. Oh yea 2 years ago he made some good plays while still hitting 220 or so.

Josh Pearson has played in 26 of the 29 games so far; he's started 20. In SEC play, he's played in 8 of 9. He's started more games (7) than Frey and Brown.

That isn't happening. Stanfield needs to stay in the lineup. But let's say he comes out (injury or slumping)... Curiel moves to CF, Pearson would move to LF, and Brown would stay in RF.
