Frey just went 2/5 in his first start against RHP Saturday. He has taken advantage of his opportunities and put together a quality body of work to show he's capable of being the everyday DH, vs. platooning with Pearson.

If this sticks, it'll be exciting to see what Frey can do with more ABs, especially with his power. Happy for the kid as he's fought through adversity with injuries, put in the work, and paid his dues.

In SEC play:
Frey:
20 AB, .350 BA, .409 OBP, .550 SLG, 1 HR, 5 RBI

Pearson:
25 AB, .200 BA, .276 OBP, .320 SLG, 1 HR, 3 RBI

Big fan of Ethan Frey. Tremendous upside! Gotta keep em at DH at least 2/3 of the time.

Question for me would be in RF....Josh Pearson vs. Jake Brown

Yeah I don’t think the matchup should matter at this point. Frey should get the nod at DH until proven otherwise

I think you have to go Brown over Pearson in RF. Pearson had been too inconsistent.

Frey hits everything hard and has proven he can display power to both sides of the field against both LHP and RHP

He’s earned the opportunities he’s getting, happy for him.

You gravely underestimate how important Pearson is to this team

Do you fail to remember the crucial role he played in in winning us a natty and how clutch he was that season when called upon? Pearson will always have a part in this season

Frey at DH, Curiel in CF, Brown in RF, Pearson in LF is also an option. Stanfield shouldn't be getting any more playing time than those other guys.

Righty vs righty is way over played anyway. You don’t need to put a lefty in just because the pitcher is is right handed. The majority of players are

Pearson would be my go to PH in critical times of a game. He has already proven time and time again that he can be relied upon in that situation.
Dude is clutch AF.

So we’re benching the guy hitting .333 in conference who 5th on the team in weighted runs created for the guy hitting .200 who is 11th in runs created in conference. Sounds smart

Considering the way the bullpen has performed; you think Pearson playing or not playing is the key to a natty? You sir are a true baseball savant.

You can always tell the people who dont actually watch the games.

Stanfield has been one of the best hitters on the team in SEC play. He is hitting over .300 with 5 doubles in 9 games.

You also just took your best defensive outfielder out of the field

Guess you didn't see his catch in the CWS that saved game 1

I feel like everyone that has downvoted this is bc they like Pearson and refuse to actually look at his stats. Pearson is a great guy by all accounts. But he’s been bad in SEC play this year (.200 BA) and in his career as a whole (.242 BA). In fact, he’s only had a couple of decent games at the plate this season. He’s been really bad with RISP lately but his defenders will be out in full force either way claiming he’s clutch.

You don’t play someone today bc of a single play 2 years ago. Pearson has had some great moments over the course of 4 years but he’s been below average in between those moments. Brown has been hitting consistently in SEC play and non-conference games. No one can honestly look at them objectively and think the lineup is better with Pearson over Brown everyday. Sure there are matchups that may favor Pearson. But Brown is almost 150 points over Pearson’s batting average in conference play right now. Pearson is batting .200 in SEC while batting in favorable matchups.
