It's not a rivalry, although I think it has the potential to become one.

THis. LSU fans need to understand we don't have a "rival."

Then what team in the SEC would you consider our "rival" that could take the place of Tulane?

Honestly, No one. Ole Miss is our closest thing.

A rivalry isn't manufactured. It's created by fans and teams. Closest thing is Ole Miss.

We don't have one because all of the candidates already have a rival:

Florida has Georgia
Bama has the Cheaters
Ole Miss has Miss Staight

The Arkansas Boot game is an attempt to manufacture a rivalry. It may work in the future but not now.

The Arkansas game is not a rivalry nor will it ever be a rivalry.

I understand what you are getting at, but just because Bama has a rivaly with AU, does that necessarily preclude us for having a rivalry with either one or both of them?

Auburn is much more of a rival than Arkansas. And people forget, we didn't start playing Auburn every year until 92 when the conference expanded.

The boot is a 2,000lb sucky arse trophy. The game has been a solid game the past 8 years.

I think you really only have one rival; the one team you hate above all else and the feeling is mutual. But I recognize that's my personal definition.

LSU doesn't have a true rivalry game.

If you ask 100 average LSU fans for LSU's biggest rival, you'll likely get 5-6 different answers (Bama, Auburn, Ole Miss, Florida, Arkansas, and some idiot would throw in Tulane). Right now, Bama would get the most votes, but the fact that this changes based on circumstances points to the fact that it's not a true rivalry.

Of the 5 SEC teams listed, even if we could come to a consensus on who is our biggest rival, we would not be their biggest.

Bama fans would put Auburn and most fans would put Tennessee ahead of LSU. Some of the younger fans would put LSU second, b ut on average, we would be 3rd on their list.

Auburn would put Bama and traditionally, Georgia ahead of LSU. Again, some would say LSU ahead of UGA, but on average we would be 3rd.

Ole Miss hates MSU far more than LSU. We would likely be 2nd on their list.

Florida would consider FSU, Georgia, and perhaps Tennessee as bigger rivals.

Arkansas actually considers the Texas schools as bigger rivals, but it made sense for the SEC to try to force a rivalry between LSU and Arkansas as they are the two western-most schools, neighboring states, and neither has a true rivalry. It may still happen, there is just not enough history at this point.

Tulane obviously would rather beat us than anyone else, but a series has to be competitive at some point to be a rivalry.
