SEC network would make a killing if they did the multi game screen they do for the regionals for when conference play starts.
ESPN as a whole doesn't care because it's really just SEC vs ACC now in the CWS, but if SEC network put more effort into it they'd make bank

If college baseball is so much bigger then men's basketball why don't they make as much money as the basketball program

this, college baseball, outside of Baton Rouge, is a yawner to most fans across the country, and it is a non revenue sport on top of that

Do you even need ESPN spoon feeding you highlights and coverage anymore ?
Getting basically every game on TV now is enough of a win, if you want coverage outside of that it’s relatively easy to find.

Uh, only 500,000 fans or so attended LSU home baseball last year.
In 2024, LSU had 447,527 in PAID attendance over 40 home games. There are many games where the stadium is about half-empty, but sold out. The stadium doesn't get close to full except for the good SEC weekend games and regionals. Yesterday's paid attendance was 10,964. Actual attendance wasn't close to that.

Attendance for the Super Bowl was around 65,000 the 2024 CWS attendance was 371,000 there fore the CWS is 5.5 times more popular right
Also I doubt 500K is actual attendance for baseball, ticket sales maybe but 11,800 do not go to mid week games

Throw out the SEC and ACC and a couple of outliers, and college baseball is a "nothing" sport to much of the rest of the nation.
There are plenty of places where womens basketball outdraws college baseball and it isn't even close.
There are places where lacrosse and hockey are way more popular than baseball
There are some really simple minded people here who can't comprehend that an entire world exist outside of their bubble.
Hell, go over to the MSB and they will try to convince you that nobody watches the NFL, because they have a little section of group thinkers who repeat it constantly until they all eventually convince themselves that they make up the majority of NFL viewership and since they aren't watching, then it means they are successfully tanking ratings.

honestly regular season ( espescially non-conference) baseball on tv is pretty boring, it is fun live , and is watchable in post season, but just being honest.

Yeah, but does your boyfriend also feel this way?

The reason softball gets so many games on is the tighter TV window. I think it’s going to be better this year, but the biggest thing they frick up now is not enough midweek games on the linear channels.
They prefer to rerun talking head shows or rerun spring football games instead of showing games they’re already producing for streaming. It’s infuriating.

This. Don’t want this sport to become like CBB. Saturday alone there were over 50 games on the reg and cable networks from 11 to midnight… crazy.

I remember when ESPN first started College Baseball and College Lacrosse were the only sports they carried. I used to love watching it back then.

I have had season tickets for LSU Baseball since 2014. I attend all home games. I have seen The Box actually filled up (no empty seats) maybe 4 times in that period. We get maybe 3000 people for midweek games. And we are the top of the food chain in college baseball.
1. Most sports fans nationwide do NOT follow college baseball at all. It, as a college sport fans watch and care about, falls way behind MBB and WBB. Check the NCAA Tournament tv ratings for college baseball versus college WBB. WBB does better than college baseball.
2. Too many folks in these parts simply look at LSU Baseball and think college fans everywhere care about the sport like we do. Hint: most do not and it is getting even more narrow in appeal as compared to the 20th century. We have about 20 serious programs now in college baseball and those programs are expanding and dominating and everyone else is doing little to nothing.

as someone who only casually follows lsu/college baseball, it gets way more attention than it did just a few years ago

Not just here, it’s really human nature to think the world revolves around “you” and your interests. ESPN shows plenty of College Baseball over the course of the season. Not every LSU game but every weekend there will be CBB games on some channel after basketball season ends

I’m not gonna get into Baseball versus men’s basketball but ESPN absolutely shows more softball and WBB compared to baseball. Now maybe I really am in a bubble but you’re gonna have a tough time convincing me that fricking softball is a higher draw than baseball. Maaaaaayyyyybe there is a case for women’s basketball but I doubt it.

WBB is shown more for a few reasons. You can fit more games on TV. And the important part of the season overlaps with the less important part of the baseball season. It’s also experienced a huge surge in popularity recently and it allows them to cross promote other basketball content on their platforms.
Softball games are shorter than baseball games. So they can show more of them as well. Or show them at times when they need a tighter window before other, more high profile, programming is scheduled.

I need to see some actual data on this.

The bubble is you claiming they show more softball. Obviously they do show softball but I need to see some data showing they show it more. Otherwise More likely you just notice it because it’s not what you want to see.
