Uh, only 500,000 fans or so attended LSU home baseball last year. Maybe 700,000 for LSU home football. Pretty close. From what I see on TV maybe 150,000 or so for LSU home basketball (say 8000 per game).
You should restructure your thinking.
So because one school is an outlier, the rest of us should change our thinking. Some of you people are really, really low IQ and it shows.

Why doesn't ESPN talk more about my fantasy football team?

It’s not just college baseball. Seems like the sport of baseball as a whole just doesn’t seem to interest people in the US anymore. You look at most of the MLB stadiums during games and the stands are practically empty

Outside of a few states, nobody cares about college baseball. The World Series has like 2-3 million viewers.
Everything is available on their app via streaming which is all we need

Outside of the purple & gold bubble, no one cares. Hell, I’m an alum and I don’t care. I’m glad we’re good, I’ll watch if we get to Omaha, but I’ve always found watching baseball to be boring and not worth 4-5 hours of time. I played the game all the way through high school, understand it, and appreciate the skill it takes, but it’s just not interesting to watch, especially not 50-60 games a season.

Only small minded people cant understand why college baseball isnt on espn like college basketball.
exactly
now i will say i do think with the changes in minor league baseball and more top prospects going the CBB route instead of minor leagues...I expect a popularity boost for college baseball. Esp if espn starts picking big games and hyping them up.
it will never be a big time winner for espn but could easily be a money maker instead of the loser it currently is.

The answer is the same every time this comes up. You’re in a vacuum. The masses who pay the bills don’t GAF bout lil old intramural CBB.

The espn app is the only place you can watch college baseball for the most part. Even 10yrs ago this was unheard of.
I’d say they have helped grow the game tremendously

Outstanding point!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There are 27365352626263636 baseball home games per season, and 3.5 football home games per season. And even then, football outdraws baseball.
I guess do whatever you have to do to convince yourself college baseball moves the needle A MOTHERFLUCKING TICK on a national scale. Reality proves otherwise.

ESPN has actually been the best partner for college baseball
They decided to televise the CWS and it's grown from there
Until SEC play starts and regionals ESPN is not putting all their eggs in the college baseball broadcasts especially when weather comes into play in their prime time spots
If nothing else you still can get any baseball game on the regional in house broadcasts which is light years compared to what you got back in the 90's and 2000's. You can credit Rantz for that because LSU was the only team doing the local broadcasts back then and schools started to piggyback off LSU. On top of that once SEC Network took over Rantz took his show to the Sun Belt and lesser conferences which has given them even more exposure.

I’m so sick of espn treating college baseball like a red headed step child. Compare it to men’s basketball.
Dumb comparison. Way more people care about college basketball than baseball.

This is what the Baseball first LSU fans who love to shite all over basketball will never get. I love LSU baseball but it’s irrelevant for almost the entire rest of the country
Posted on 2/17/25 at 9:46 am to Pelican fan99
Why can’t you people accept that college basketball is irrelevant here?
Posted on 2/17/25 at 9:51 am to turnpiketiger
Do yourself a favor and compare the ratings of the women’s final four to the CWS final.
Posted on 2/17/25 at 9:55 am to turnpiketiger
Do you clowns still not realize nobody gives the slightest shite about college baseball outside a few fanbases in the South?

ll. And that is only because the basketball program has been struggling for multiple years now and inconsistent for the better part of 35 years.
Exactly . College basketball is more popular across the country than college baseball and it’s not close .
Let the LSU program go in the tank and see how unpopular it would become at LSU.

college baseball isn't and never will be as bg on a national stage as college basketball.
but as coverage has grown, so has the popularity.
with more coverage, it could grow even more and become a lot more "relevant" than it is.
Posted on 2/17/25 at 9:59 am to turnpiketiger
It’s treated far better than say double A baseball despite double a baseball having more talent

You can't be serious? It's mid-February and you're complaining about the lack of coverage of college baseball all the while ESPN has increasingly broadcasted more college baseball throughout the years. Again, it's mid-February...

I’ve said it for years, college gameday for baseball would be so cool.

There is enough of a demand in the Big12 and ACC as well

They’re missing out on a great opportunity here.
No they are not.

Except there's a ton more baseball games than football.
NFL draws about 1/5 to 1/6 of the amount of total attendance as MLB does, this doesnt mean MLB is way more popular than the NFL. Baseball just plays a ton more games.
College baseball merely isnt near popular enough nationally to warrant the extra attention from ESPN. It's an extremely regional sport, much like college Hockey.
Baseball starts way too early for people up north to ever really care about it, their teams dont even play at home for the first 3-4 weeks of the season.
