Just from reading this forum, it looks like the meltdown in Baton Rouge has begun. I love it!

We will never know because ull plays in the sunbelt not sec but most I think would disagree that even in a down year that ull in a great year would beat LSU. Someone on this thread sites ulls win against Iowa state as evidence of a better team but LSU won games last year that were far better opponents than ull or Iowa state. So again I would say like any other year, even in our undefeated year, it’s impossible to know the outcome of a game never played but my opinion is that ull would have been a serious underdog in any year I can ever remember. They would be a huge underdog this year as well despite the ESPN ranking.

I almost feel sorry for you: so if all else fails, reach for history, and at ALL COSTS avoid/distract from talking about current, and future....which is what this article and thread are about.

Why would LSU fans melt over a lowly mid major school that has never accomplished anything?

If we played LSU's schedule, we would be in the SEC and getting $40M/year from tv contracts, so yes, given that change in financial strength...we would be competitive.

Aren't you happy Tulane decided to leave the SEC when they did.

I’m not looking at history.... there is ZERO doubt LSU has way more talent than ULL. But again what do you think The Cajuns record would have been last year playing LSU’S schedule.....

It’s a simple question.

Exactly. He is asking the wrong question. The real question should be: give Napier half of lsu's resources and how can you doubt what the results would be? Look at what his doing with ~1/5th what O is getting .

You are really climbing trees here...... but a ULL education can do that to ya.... ok ONE more time..... does ULL have the talent to compete through an SEC schedule.... again it’s not that hard of a question......

Its such a stupid question. If UL played LSU's schedule all other things the same, 2 and 3 star roster, fractional budget which enables things like additional support staff and analysts etc... uhh yeah UL would be at a significant disadvantage relative to the competition and wouldn't do well. Like..yeah?

If Nick Saban didn't have his roster full of 5 stars and Alabama didn't spend the most money in the country on college football, would have won 6 championships? I mean shite Peej.

oh man. That stupid question has been answered several time already.

But let me cut the chase and sum up your beliefs:

1. USL will never amount to anything, ever.
2. lsu will forever remain supreme in all things.

There. Done.

Does a Sunbelt school have the same talent as an SEC school? Definitively no. You're not on to some huge revelation bud.

With the athletes a $35 Million athletic budget brings you?

No, I don't think we could run through a typical SEC schedule season and come out 10-2 or 9-3. Way too much depth on SEC teams where they can overcome season-loss injuries, nagging stuff that may hamper a key player one or two weekends, D-Line depth when your Top 2-3 guys need breathers, etc.

That's the kind of things being in the SEC can buy you.

So hey, congrats. You're the top dog in Louisiana and always will be. You don't have to compete with another in-state school for donations and athletes with another P5 school like in Mississippi (two SEC schools), Alabama (two SEC schools), Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Oklahoma, etc.

LSU gets free reign over all it wants and desires in Louisiana, a state rich with athletic talent from football and baseball to track & field.

Those football National Championships need to keep rolling in, because that would be a colossal waste of easy resources if not.

In the meantime, us Cajun fans will keep enjoying what might be a brief time of unprecedented success for us. I can't speak for other Cajuns fans, but I'm under no impression that we're suddenly going to be knocking on LSU's door for athletes and taking them over as the top football program in the state. It's just impossible considering the above, so no need to even concern ourselves with it.
