OSU's coach said that his (3rd base) coach told him it was a foul ball. He also said it was all on him because it was his responsibility to challenge the call. At least he wasn't a bitch about it.

That's a stand up individual. I respect him for that.

Because like everyone is saying, the story line could be a multitude of different things like OS not being able to get anymore offense going, Lange pitching a great game, Beavers coaches blowing it, but instead the story is about the umpires not stopping the game to help OS out which isn't their job. Their job is to call the game being played out which is what they did. Ive seen some extremely good umpiring in this CWS so no complaints from me lol

" it's a big deal"

It didn't appear to be a big enouugh deal for Oregon State coacthes to say squat about it at the time it happened. You snooze you lose and they did! I'm not gonna worry about it now.

If one play changes then the rest of the game changes. That is just how it is in life. You cannot take one moment and change it and expect the other time to remain the same.

CPM should have asked for a replay just to be fair.

Exactly... Game played out like it did. I hope OS stays with this as well while the Tigers take full advantage and come away with the big W.

Coaching is part of the game too and their coaches failed them there.

Yeah, it's not like we still don't get worked up over this

Except that play was reviewed and still not overturned. Not the same situation. CPM would have asked for replay no doubt. It's OSU's own fault and he admitted it.

What I hate is ESPN and the announcers making a big deal of it when OSU was ok with the call. It's not like there was a real controversy. There was no argument, not even an umpire meeting.

It's a slow sports day, plus are you saying if that happened to LSU, nobody would be talking about it today?

Why would they? It's a huge play... if the roles had been reversed this place would be on full melt for 2 weeks.

Exactly. We still talk about the Patrick Peterson interception against Bama from several years ago.

Of course they are still talking about it...it was a big play. I am not sure it would have changed the outcome of the game, but if it happened to us, it would royally piss me off.

Fact is, our left fielder needs to have his arse there to catch that ball and the issue instantly disappears.

Yeah I'm sure there wouldn't be any PM threads today had we not challenged it

Still doesnt change the fact that outside of that they had 2 hits all game.

Yeah, they have an awesome staff but we put a couple of first round guys on the mound. It was good to see us out pitch their staff yesterday. That's what LSU's two hottest pitchers should have done in a do or die game like that.

Taken literally, the first rule only says that it is reviewable if it hits the ground past the infield. Ten minutes or so later they said that the word "Ground" officially implies the wall or fence as well.

Speaking of, we left at least 1 and maybe 2 runs off the board when our coach decided not to bunt with runners on and no outs. He let Smith and I believe Slaughter swing away in those situations and we got no runs.
