We’re no. 4, BEHIND Bama at 3?

Anyone have any clue what’s going on here? Is this some sort of weird troll?

Their computer rankings are utterly meaningless. Expect them to walk it back this week.

I don’t think that article is accurate. That looks like Bill Connely’s SP+ rankings, which are based on math and are forward projections not reactions.

The official new top 25 polls will be out later today. The new Coaches’ Poll is out at noon E.T. and the new AP Poll is out at 2 p.m. E.T.

Eta: Relax people.

No way that is current/real.

I think ESPN's FPI is purely algorithmic. Which is why they don't leave these sorts of things up to the computers.

EDIT: Yes, the above is correct. From the article you linked.

Sort of begs the question of what it “cares” about.

Alabama will be ranked ahead of LSU because Alabama has a quality loss, at home, to an unbeaten LSU team.

LSU does not have this type of loss on their schedule.

This is justified.

Agreed. Our SoS is miles ahead of Bama's, we played them at home and beat them. What else can LSU do?

I think we can safely ignore their model.
