Lame troll attempt

I don't care about his rants on twitter.
It's actually better that he starts the season with something to prove, rather than being complacent. It will fuel his anger which should translate into big playmaking on the field.

Or big mistakes when he tries to make too much happen. Just sayin'.
A lot of hate for an article no one seems to have read. I'm not gonna argue with the guy's statistical analysis, because I haven't done my own. My eyes tell me Mathieu is a stud who has made plays when he needed to.
Maybe he's not a premier cover-corner, but that's not what he's been asked to do. And he's certainly made enough big plays to make up for a bunch of little ones he's allowed.

Why should we? He contributes more to our success than we could ever ask for.

I trust Tyrann's instincts on the field. He has earned the trust of every single fan here.

I'm not reading this entire thread but all you have to do is post his defensive statistics over the last two years and it should stop anyone from continuing to call him overrated. He's the single most productive LSU defensive player in my lifetime and he's only going to be a junior. Kid is amazing.

Joyner is awful...but I thank him for giving out INsider buletin board material. What a guy.

No kidding. Tyrann is one of the most overrated play in CFB? Didn't Joyner also say Florida State would win the Title over the past 3 years?

He gave up zero freaking touchdowns this year. ZERO. We have different definitions of big plays.

Where does this anti cover corner stuff come from. Who beat him for 6 last year. Name one freaking time. For the love of God he threw a shutout every game.

Successful journalism 2012 = internet hits
controversy = internet hits
shocking opinions= ditto
You guys have made Joyner's day on these threads.
Guilbeau embraces the same strategy

I actually believed this for a while myself. When it happens over, and over, and over again, then, you start adding in incredible punt return after incredible punt return, at some point it's no longer luck. And TM7 has past that point, my man.
No one is that lucky.

I'm going to post this in every thread until this myth dies.

He was recruited solely, I repeat, SOLELY on his ability to cover. Anything else being said is Bama talking points to discredit what will end up being the Derrick Thomas of cornerbacks when he is through at LSU.

Tyrann Mathieu from New Orleans (La.) St. Augustine doesn't have any offers and there wasn't much known about him before today but don't be surprised if one is on the way from Tennessee. He was unbelievable in pass coverage. As a pure cover guy, I just can't imagine how a kid could have had a better performance than he had today. Doesn't have ideal height but he has awesome hips and ridiculous makeup speed. - Barton Simmons
quote:
By the afternoon session, Mathieu was being called out by every coach or wide receiver that wanted a challenge. Even while taking the best shot from the best receivers in attendance, Mathieu won almost every rep. In a drill in which the defense is at a major disadvantage, breakups and pure stops are hard to come by but those plays became routine for Mathieu. Barton Simmons

The 24 hour sports coverage leads to some funny shite. Before middle of last season, TM7 was completely underrated and in many ways completely unknown. Then after completely dominating a season defensively like no one else, as well as having some spectacular punt returns, he gets all sorts of praise and recognition (rightfully so). Now, during the offseason, he becomes overrated.
Hilarious.
He also led LSU in: tackles, DB tackles for losses, passes broken up, fumbles forced, defensive touchdowns, punt returns, yardage and TDs, all while not even playing the UT game.

He single-handedly got us in the game and buried Arkansas with a punt return for a TD and two FF (one recovery). Dude can end your night very quickly.

quote:To be fair, a lot of people care and adopt the opinions of the media. Remember last season and the idea of the LSU/Alabama rematch; regardless of whether it was fair or not, people became accustomed to it. By the time the bowls rolled around, if you made the statement that LSU had already beaten Bama and someone else deserved a shot, you were ridiculed.
Who cares what they said? The guy can play.
The 1st time TM misses a play, his Heisman candidacy will be mocked. This, despite the fact that he's done more mayhem on the real field than I can do on the PS3.

I have seen too many rantards use this site to repeat the Gump Myth that TM7 got schooled on 1/9/12.
They repeat it simply b/c they've read it.
I saw a very good DB in very good coverage lose four matchups with perfect passes and really GOOD catches. That can happen to the very best.
And did.
But if he loses his twitter account today, I'm entirely cool with that.
