16 is being generous. No qb, reworked oline, big questions on the dline.

If it wasn't for Les, I would think LSU could easily finish in the Top 10

Ain't where you start,but where you finish.#1

Just remember, Les is not a good coach, Les is a great coach...

Five months before the season starts is a little too early to lose sleep over this. And after what casual observers (read: sports pundits) have seen of the team over the past two seasons, why should we be anywhere near the top 10 at this point? 15-25: that's where 90% of the so-called scribes would place LSU right now.

24 seems more realistic

i'm not concerned about the qb position, but with the huge question marks on the offensive line i can't really complain about the ranking. plus, presesaon polls mean nothing.

Schedule seems to dictate in the SEC, having a solid team doesn't hurt. Our schedule seems manageable, Tenn is down, UF is rebuilding defensively, Bama is here, Ark on the road is scary as is UNC, Wva is not what they use to be. I think there is reason to be optomistic! We are better coached; Gonzales,Wilson, and TE coach(debatable). We will have younger shiftier backs, Sheppard will play. I think we are quite a bit better than folks think. The QB play and running game were awful due to the O line, that can't be as bad as last year. With Gonzales's direction I think our passing game will be simplified and our WR's will really improve. There isn't a team in the nation with more talent at the WR position.

espn and all the shows and people with it never like lsu. they would much rather talk up alabama or florida.
but it doesn't matter, because the coaches and the ap, along computers of the bcs love us.
i look for us to be around 8 or 9. and the best thing about the bcs is that it doesnt come out until the middle of the season, so this don't really matter at all.

Everyone is on Bamas dic_ but there defense (which won most of their games for them)
Our defense was great, but our offense did average 30+ points a game. There were two games where the defense was the only reason we won, but there were also several games in which our offense took control and never looked back. A #1 ranking may be a bit lofty due to our losses on the defensive side of the ball, but we return essentially the entire offense.
ETA: Our offense scored fewer than 20 points in only one game.

- Probably 'bout right. Big questions at QB and OL.
- Kind of hurts to know that after all those great recruiting seasons this is what we've come to.
- Yet, we have the talent to win'em all so who cares what we're ranked in April.

I think Boise state at #3 might result in the demise of the BCS and the start of some kind of playoff. The minute a BCS conference team loses a shot in the MNC to a smaller conference team that goes undefeated with a schedule full of creampuffs, the outrage will be extreme regardless of Boise St.'s worthiness to be there.

Seems about right to me. We can work our way up with wins against WVU and UNC. If we beat Fla. this season then we'll be ranked in the Top 10. Just gotta keep winning.

I'm ok with #16 (in April).

I believe they mentioned that we have the fewest returning starters of any team in the Top 25 and one of the toughest schedules. Based on those two things, I think we are lucky that the national media are ranking us that highly.
