Entergy Level Billing - Bill Keeps Going Up

I looked at my Entergy bills for the last few months and noticed an upward trend I thought energy prices were just going up.
I know the typical OT response would be that it is summer, but holly toledo I realized that in July and August I racked up 2 500 dollar bills for those two months. I used way more electricity than in January when it was cold and I am totally electric. So when the he is on I am using 14 kWH of electricity. I learned that for the snow storm.
I even did the math calculating the cost per kWH in October of last year versus the August and July bills of this year. The difference was maybe two cents per kWH more.
So I looked back at my previous 2025 bills and noticed that I used about 500 kWH more than the year previous. My usage is up, but where.
OT energy sleuths what could be causing the drastic increase in usage besides it was hot outside. Could my AC be going out and working harder and not cooling as efficiently? Is someone secretly trying to run a datacenter in my home?

Mines so out of hand about 5 months ago I switched over to candles to light the house at night and I use a portable solar generator to power my window unit at night.

Your A/C is typically the largest user.
When is the last time you had the outside unit cleaned thoroughly? IE not just sprayed off with a hose like some A/C hacks do.
Same goes for the indoor coils in the air handler, they need to be cleaned periodically.
High MERV air filters can cause restriction if not changed often, on the flip side low MERV filters flow well but let more dust through and then the evap coil needs cleaning more often. I use spun fiberglass "rock catchers" in the returns (changed every month or so) and a whole house 5" filter up in the attic (changed every 6 months).

Looks like the AC is culprit.
I realized I put one of those Sensi Thermostats in 2024. It shows over 200 more hours of cooling this year over last year in the same months of July and August. Last two months averaged 450 hours of cooling compared to 250 hours of cooling last year in the same two months.
I went ahead and set the thermostat to 75 on a schedule just in case someone is lowering the thermostat to make the unit run more.

Idk about usage, but via email bill notice, my Energy bill went up $40 to $257 this past month.

ACs are about 40% of the average homes electrical consumption. Always start there. Odds are it’s just because it’s hot AF. You can get a Sense or something similar to get better data.
