I do not believe that he will be the full time OC. The man stated last year that he had zero interest in having the job full time at the point in his career. What I don't understand is nearly saying it will be a complete disaster if he were running the offense full time. What are you basing this opinion on? I thought he did a damn good job when he took over for Cameron. Again doing a job he didn't really want. Setting yardage records in several games all the while working within the framework of a offense from 70's that was installed by Cameron. Don't get confused I am not politicking for him to get the job. I want a OC who wants the job and will be here multiple years and recruit a QB to his system. I am just trying to figure why so many think he would be a total failure if he did have the job.

I really, really like Steve E.

He’s just not what O needs running the offense, and here’s why:

1. He’s not elite as an OC (good, yes, but not elite), and neither is O. Ensminger as OC would be fine with a Jimbo Fisher, not so much an Orgeron. O needs an elite OC like Freeze, Briles, etc to succeed.

2. He would allow O to run over him. They’re buddies. O already showed tendencies to meddle in the offense. It would be magnified when Ensminger wouldn’t stand up to him.

3. His heart isn’t in it. As you said, he doesn’t even want the job.

Ensminger would be disastrous as OC.

Because he is not an OC, has expressly stated that he has no interest in doing so, and doesn't, to my mind anyway, have an overarching offensive philosophy.

As with O being HC, him being OC could very well workout, but why be so willing to go all in on it when the odds overwhelmingly dictate against it?

probably right, he's a good man and a good coach, and a very experienced and underrated one, but don't forget that this is the rant, bunch of kneejerk, emotional, dumbasses on here

If he’s such a good play caller, why hasn’t he called plays full time since the 90s?

except when Woodley was on the bench, then they hated him, those were the parents/grandparents of the rant

Not a lot of hate for him by fan base. And I don't know if he will be OC, but there is no opening for OC.

What did his offense do against good defenses tgough ? I don't think it would be a disaster but promoting a TE coach to OC was not included in Os sales pitch to get the job. The pitch was he would hire the best OC in the country.

with over 100 D-1 programs it is probably because he didn't want that position.

And therefore lacks significant experience in doing so.

Outright hate is hyperbole. I think disappointment would be more appropriate. O has to have a sexy hire as OC for the survival of the program. Perception wise, if Canada is run off and Ensminger is promoted it would be a disaster.

He was a QB for 4 years at LSU. He started as a Freshman and under a different coach would probably have started more.
Steve has been an OC 5 times.
He has been involved in 20 Bowl Games either as a player or coach.
He called a great game against Louisville using around 10 different Formations. I think his Bio speaks for itself!

Not as long as Woodley was on the team.

He doesn’t want the job and he’s not the best option. He just looked way more competent than Les/Cam, which isn’t hard to do.
