ELI5: Why has House not been fired?

I genuinely assumed he had been fired already and at Christmas, when I found out Denbrock was probably going to ND, I said, “well that means two coordinators we have to replace.” So, explain to me how Matt House hasn’t been fired?

A coach being fired gives players grounds to transfer without penalty or waiting so it doesn’t make a difference when they do it

Well said, if Matt House is terminated it would probably be after the game against Wisconsin and after all of the bowl games are done.

We’ve already signed 30 players. This logic makes no sense. We can only dream he announces after the bowl game. If it doesn’t happen in January it’s not happening

I don’t think this is true. Someone posted his contract, and I read it. His buyout was 90% of the remaining base compensation guaranteed. Assuming he is paid periodically at a frequency greater than once per year, waiting to fire him would only save 90% of his salary during the wait period.
