It's difficult to imagine (3) downvotes to this post.

Ed isn’t trying to get political. He says he likes the governor. He says he likes the president. He would say he liked anybody in that position because he is being cordial.
Nobody says they love Trump unless it is true. Especially a football coach.

You don't understand Progressives at all, do you?

Nice post in theory but you would not get past the third sentence.
20 year olds live by emotion and their life experiences, for which most have been heavily influenced on one side of the political spectrum.
O would be run out the door if he went to the "facts".

O shouldn’t have to say a damn thing about this manufactured social injustice and he should be able to say a nice thing about the President without any consequences. Sadly the world we live in today doesn’t allow this.

If I were Coach O, my “#1” would have been to approach the BLM thing and the different shootings as though I was all on board...

6) He met with the team multiple times to address their concerns about racism/social injustices.
“My players and former players are hurting, and they let me know they’re hurting,” Orgeron says in an interview Tuesday with Sports Illustrated. “When they’re hurting, it hurts me. I love all my players like they were my own. I know some are hurting right now, and I totally support them. I will not tolerate racism, and they know it.”
Orgeron wished to first deliver a message to his team, he says, before giving one to the general public. “I told them my feelings, which stays in house, but they know I will not tolerate racism,” he says. “Everybody has a right to voice their opinion. We’re not going to stop that. I told them to be careful.”
For Orgeron, race issues run deep. He is native Cajun, an ethnic group from South Louisiana that before recently was the target of persecution. It took more than 200 years—and a lawsuit—for the U.S. government to recognize them as a national ethnic group in 1980, and in the early 20th century, attempts were made by American teachers to suppress their language. Orgeron’s ancestors were French-speaking Acadians whom the British forced from their Nova Scotia home in the mid-1700s. They were sent fleeing to French-settled Louisiana, establishing a base on the bayou and later developing a reputation as experts at the seafood and oil field industries.
On Tuesday, Orgeron declined to speak about the plight of Cajuns—“This is not about that,” he says—instead focusing his support for those angry, frustrated and saddened players, former players and co-workers who have reached out to him. “I have seen the incident,” Orgeron says. “I think it’s terrible. I just want the players and former players to know I’m there to support them.”

He definitely has done some great things. His love for Trump does not negate that.

The biggest problem for Orgeron are the emotional fans.
I listened to Chase's Dad, then Stingley's Dad. Both confirmed, Chase made a business decision. RC had no part in the decision.
Orgeron built this team to National Championship caliber. Yet fans are second guessing the man.
Players and recruits read the board. If you can't say something positive, think before you post.

Most telling quote from that story is when they ask about the plight of Cajuns and Orgeron immediately goes back to the topic he was talking about and still showed support for his men. The man isn’t perfect, none of us are, but he is about as genuine as you’re going to find in a position of power

Well put. O has done about all that he can here.
Agreed but there is no winning with the left, none, he is not allowed to say he supports the President. This will not end well. My 2 cents

5) He releases a statement early on that he will not tolerate racism of any form in the program
It’s a damn shame that anyone believes their organization needs to make such a statement.
Should organizational leaders then have to read a legal disclaimer to cover every other -ism that people need to hear to avoid thinking it just might otherwise be tolerated?

I mean I’m sure Trump was very nice to him and the team when they came to Whitehouse.
Orgeron works like 100 hours a week and everyone says he doesn’t think about anything other than football. I’m sure he likes the President just fine through that lens.

And why the frick should it?

As a staunch supporter of those seeking justice against police brutality, I believe O is doing a great job running this program. He is himself and he puts ALL of our players in a position to succeed after football.
His comments about Trump shouldn’t be seen as a big deal. I didn’t think anything of them myself. I like that he respects the position. There’s not much Trump has done that has been much worse than Bush, Clinton, or Obama for that matter.

Not saying this is fair, but the answer is yes. You have to know your team. You have a vast majority of Black players. Do you think they are all Trump loving die had Republicans? C'mon.

Everyone will forget about this in 3 weeks once games are played. Remember all the people who were FURIOUS that he’s buddies with JBE? How often have you heard from them?
Yeah, remember when a former player accused Dabo of being a racist at practice a few months ago? Haven't heard about it since shortly after that story broke. Same thing with Gundy. Dude gets railroaded for a fricking t-shirt he wore on a fishing trip with his son, goes on TV to apologize, and we haven' heard about that since either.

The man has a right to like or love anyone he wants. Doesnt mean he is racist. I support O.

No need to attack players personally. However, I will say what I believe. They should be expected to tolerate others' opinions and beliefs just the same as anyone else. Don't be a coward.

He said that Trump is doing a good job.
The craziest part of the whole thing was that whole interview was specifically referencing Trump's push for football to be played this year. But of course everyone wants to hone in on that statement in a vacuum and portray it as "Orgeron loves Trump and doesn't care about his black players because Trumps is a racists and anyone who supports him is too." It's madness
