But in the meantime, it has been Orgeron’s ability to lure players from junior colleges and other four-year colleges that has helped prevent LSU from falling off dramatically.

We haven't even seen any of these transfers play. How do we know they are gonna prevent us from falling off dramatically? These dudes could end up sucking

You can't fault the guy. He's doing what he can to win now. I even like that he brought in two capable walk-ons in Sale and Loving, probably knowing we'd lose both Narcisse and McMillan. His roster management has been good. He's not leaving any glaring holes if he can help it.

We don't know if any of his staffing hires on the offensive side were the right moves or not. This season will tell whether he's able to run a major P5 program. It's unfortunate that the O experiment is happening with our program, but it is what it is. I can't say he hasn't rolled with the punches thus far.

i commend him on filling up the roster so that the next guy can just step right in and not worry about many holes.

The 2017 recruiting class should have proved this.

someone didn't waive a stupid stick they hit you with it.

Two months as permanent head coach and signs the #7 class in the nation and you think it proves he is not an ace recruiter. This board is DUMB today and getting worse.

Ree, they don't like facts. Orgeron was named RC for the 2016 season - the same season he was elevated to interim HC.

quote:

Three new coaches, raises and extensions and pay cut LSU coach Les Miles, flanked by new running backs coach Jabbar Juluke (left) and wide receivers coach Dameyune Craig, barely survived the 2015 season, but added three coaches to his staff for a promising 2016 season. He also added defensive coordinator Dave Aranda, while getting a contract extension for offensive coordinator Cam Cameron, albeit with a pay cut. Ed Orgeron got a raise and extension for his new recruiting coordinator duties and O-line Jeff Grimes and secondary coach Corey Raymond got pay bumps. Here's a look at the contracts:

One of these days O and his staff will have to actually recruit and develop a QB. Obviously Burrow is an awesome get, but Joe Burrows dont grow on trees.

No QBs signed last cycle and 1 dual threat committed for this cycle. We shall see

a very short period when Frank Wilson left and before he appointed Dameyune Craig as RC. you should try following LSU football sometime, it's good stuff.

Recruiting coordinator for a year. Interim coach for 10 games. Full time coach 1 season. Been on staff and heavily involved with recruiting for 4 years now. How much longer does he need? You tell me Derek.

Ree when can we expect your full season preview?

I’ll give you the summary:

quote:

Orgeron has quickly established himself as a force to be reckoned with, both on the field and the recruiting trail.

Despite being shackled with a mediocre roster from the most successful coach in LSU history, he has addressed and corrected the deficiencies that have held this once great program back for the past several years.

He has assembled the best and most experienced staff that is the envy of the college football world. All of whom are on the same page and have this team relentlessly pursuing excellence on the practice field, meeting rooms, and weight room.

The depth chart is now littered with seasoned and experienced players all over the field, both from transfers and young high school blue chippers that earned their stripes when pressed into service last year.

Without question, the LSU program is back and the Tiger faithful will be rewarded with the type of football that will make them proud and excited for not only the future of the program, but also the present, starting two weeks from now in Dallas!!!

Prediction: 8-4 (#25)

Belk Bowl loss to NCState

Final record: 8-5 (unranked)

Ed Orgeron SEC Coach of the Year

2019 Preseason Ranking: #3

HOLD THAT TIGER!!!!

When did O come to LSU, when did he become interim/HC, and how many of these holes were his doing?

It's funny shite to see you crowing about O in some way, but never seeming to be able to admit he sometimes causes the problems he's trying to fix.

But Pete Jenkins is down the road at Bama.

Well they may suck. But a lot of them will be starters. Imagine how bad LSU would be without these guys.

No Burrow would have left JM as the starter.
No Fehoko would have meant Tyler Shelvin or an injured Ed Alexander would have to start at NT.
No Giles would leave LSU with very little to no experience among the starting WR's.
No Cole Tracy would mean LSU would be relying on two guys who did this:
"Redshirt freshman Connor Culp and walk-on Jack Gonsoulin are a combined 15-of-24 this season, a 62.5 percent make rate that's the lowest in 12 years. It is just the second time in the last decade that the Tigers’ field-goal kicking is below 70 percent.

Nationally, the mark ranks 103rd."

Which would you prefer? To not have the transfers?

I love how you keep posting this, even holding it, without realizing you're phrasing it in a way that leads it to be interpreted as though Tracy was the 124th best kicker in the country.

Did you expect him in one whole season to recruit and develop a QB?

He's good but I don't know if anyone is that damn good.

Well we had wrs transfer out when he was hired full time. He was the dline coach so not having depth there is on him. He also has been here since 2015 so he should know if his kickers were worth a shite before the start of last season. The qbs he signed were committed before, and he failed to sign a qb last cycle. So he had to go Juco because he basically hasn't recruited and signed a single fricking one other than Burrow.

Such a great recruiter and manager of the roster.

No, not really. But it's not unheard of. What I'm saying is that it's not practical to make grad transfers a significant part of the program's long-term vision. We can't just hope that OSU has reject that wants PT every couple of years. How Brennan develops in the next 2 years will be a window into whether the O-Ensminger experiment is worth a damn.
