The sacks were an improvement also.

I think this was a huge component of it. It's possible that there were still major breakdowns in the secondary, but Orgeron couldn't exploit them due to the pass rush.

Orgeron has entered defensive mode where he tries to make the case for how much better the team will play next week while avoiding the glaring weaknesses.

Guys like Saban will blow you out 62-0 and he’ll still find fault. He will not allow the players to be disillusioned into complacency.

DEs set the edge. That was a vast improvement technique wise.
That's the only way you can see improvement against a mcneese.
Mike Jones and Bugg Strong are better than Baskerville and Clark against the same competition. Doesn't mean they're good but they're better. So that's improved.

Can't fix the OL and can't blame Davis.
He showed up with ingredients for chicken sh t and no ability to get new ingredients. Don't expect chicken salad

Yes it doesn't look good but, Myles was supposed to be starting QB, that could be a major problem but I have no clue. Either
1-OL coach is not good.
2-OL coach was hired to late for this year.
3-OL players suck.
4-OC No good
5-OC Not enough time to gel

I go with number 2 !

Oh good, Orgeron is quitting. At least that's how I interpret the comment.

Its coach speak you dumbass. WTF is he supposed to say "we suck and this year will be a disaster"?

Wait a sec, I was told just a few years ago that it was so refreshing because O was honest and didn't use coach speak in his press conferences. Was that wrong? Some folks came down pretty hard on anyone who suggested he used coach speak. I'm sure there are apologies in order for someone somewhere.

The talent on defense is there. If the team communicates and gels, I still think this defense can be damn good. I mean, we have elite corners, several very good to elite defensive linemen, talented safeties, and some incredible athletes at LB that need to develop and/or learn their role. There is talent at every level.

Offense, there is talent everywhere except maybe the OL

I never said that. All coaches use coach speak. You just have to have enough sense to see through it and not take everything so literal. Coaches have to project a positive view, no matter if it's actually true or not. It's like everyone saying he was downing Aranda by saying that the D was improved. He can't say anything else otherwise it projects weakness. Last season proved that to be total bullshite obviously, but he has to always show positivity when it comes to his team.

He should have thrown in a Phil Fulmer “we’re working like heck”. That satisfied Vol fans for years.

Yes, he stated this after 2 days of practice. I had not drunk enough to misquote him.

The shrimp boat captain doesn't have a clue. The main problem is the horse shite offensive line. They couldn't block the sidewalk, and it isn't going to change. Get ready to "enjoy" another shite show like last year. 5-7 is the high water mark. Fire this boob!!!!!

WTF is he supposed to say

something to the effect of:

"we watched the film and identified areas we need to work on. And we are addressing them going forward"

that's both coach speak, and possibly even true.
Says the staff knows the issues. Gives the impression they know how to improve things. But also allows room for it not to be immediately and obviously completely fixed yet.

saying "we fixed it already and moving on to other things" is just straight up bullshite. it's a damn lie that everyone on this site called out the moment the statement was released.

Some things did improve. They were resting O linemen and some defensive players. They were the better team on paper and showed on the field. Don’t write this team off. McNeese has a bunch of D1 transfer players. They tried a lot of the same stuff as UCLA. The defense looked like an SEC defense. The offense needs to keep working on an established running game. It’s a team sport. It sometimes takes several quarters, particularly for offenses to come together.

I haven’t been able to follow closely, lucky that I was able to see the game. So you are saying this is what Orgeron said in the post game?
