Here's a good explanation.

Nobody cares about Herman.

Nobody really CARES about Orgeron. 99% of the fanbase doesn't despise him; nor do they love him.

This is bigtime college football. LSU has established that they are/can be/should be a major contender. Saban, Miles and Orgeron all won national titles since the turn of the century. Saban also won another SEC and Sugar Bowl title; Miles won 11+ games multiple times and played for another national title; Orgeron had a 10 win season and Fiesta Bowl win.

Keep the team in that stratosphere, and everyone will toast the guy and pat him on the back (but as Miles learned, you better keep producing). Drop off, and everyone not dependent on him for their livelihood will soon start calling him a bum, and worse.

Mistakes will be made. If there's winning going on, they will be forgiven. If there's struggles, every mistake will be amplified, and every last thing the guy says (and doesn't say) will be twisted, turned and misconstrued.

We just came off a 5-5 season, and all those excuses about Covid and attrition are a bunch of shite. Everyone dealt with Covid, and if you recruit good players, they will leave early. It's the coach's job to manage the season, and restock the roster.
And about Covid... every team in the country dealt with that, other power teams didn't go .500. In contrast, Miles dealt with 2 hurricanes and complete disruption of the program while the rest of the nation DIDN'T- and led the team to an 11-2 season.

Ironically, Ree’s posts which are intended to fluff O actually serve to turn more LSU fans that read TD against him. He really does O a disservice with his approach and self anointed President of his fan club.

Winning cures all - O just needs to win plain and simple. I'm pretty sure he's the second highest paid coach in college football he has to produce that every single year.

My general expectation is this:

10 wins every year - NY6 bowl every year
National championship contention every 3 yrs

I think that's very conservative and 100% doable at LSU.

O has done fantastic as a recruiter I hope he continues because as we've all seen you have to have a top 5 recruiting class every single year to win the natty. Hell an argument can be made you have to have a top 3 class consistently.

I'm not necessarily sold on the CEO method. Dabo is the only one to date that's made it work long term and that's solely because he has a top 3 DC that doesn't want to leave which is impossible for another school to find.

If O wins 10(+) games this year it'll get a weight off his back but the following year will be huge expectations considering the recruiting classes he signed.

If O wins less than 10 games this year he should justifiably be on the hot seat going into 2023 and it's playoff or bust at that point. I just don't understand in THIS scenario how you can pay a guy that much to go 5-5, then 9 wins or less the following year.
