My issue is not that he is leaving early, my issue is not playing in the bowl game. I think its a poor business decision as well as rubs me the wrong way if I am hearing what I am hearing about his grades and .

Are you serious? Having some kind of chance to make money for you and your family. He is going to get drafted or have a chance to make a team. If he comes back for another year and blows out a knee or something worse then he's effed.

I hope he does. The odds are not in his favor though.

I disagree with him passing on the bowl. But this may be one of those cases where another year of college ball wouldn't make much difference for the guy. He may be at his peak now.

...under the premise that your knees are about to give out?

He is going to get drafted

I don't think so based on the reports about his knees. They obviously limited his snaps (another bad sign) and he was frequently hurt and had to leave the game when he did play.

Look. If his knees are good enough for him to get drafted, the decision makes sense.

However, if his knees aren't good enough for that, he's already "effed".

Alexander was 100% not going to be eligible due to grades/suspension so he just bailed. I dont understand how this was so hard for people to see through...

While he won't likely get picked in the top 2 rounds, it likely is in his best interest to go. The money between late 2nd rounder and 3rd-7th aren't that big. He was never going to be a first rounder given his injury history, and can start making money a year earlier before his knees go as others have mentioned.

Not everyone is going to improve their contract much by coming back for an extra year and giving up salary for a year.

I also think a bunch of you are underrating what Alexander did this year. While he isn't putting up the flashy plays and numbers that Lawrence and Fehoko did, he was a beast much of the year.

This, only in a year without much depth at DT in the draft.

In 2018? A draft deep at DTs who actually have pass rush ability? Where does a scheme-limited NT with no pass rushing ability and a history of leg/knee issues project? He'll be lucky to last the entire season on the same practice squad after signing an UDFA contract. He's better off staying a season to drop weight, get healthy and build some pass rush moves for a draft not as deep at the position.

Detillier graded him at 4th-5th round.
...in a normal draft year. Then he proceeded to speak to why this isn't a normal draft this year at the DT position. If you read between the lines, you understand that Mike implies he gets drafted much lower than that.

Ed has a lot of work to do between now and the draft, especially if he doesn't get a combine invite.

Who ever drafts him will be drafting based on potential alone...his film isnt that great and he has only started in 8 games his entire collegiate career

Getting drafted to the NFL seems like a decent escape plan.

I never really thought of this, and probably most people haven't. Really cannot blame him at all.

Everyone’ s drafted on potential... he plays nose tackle and will only be expected to play 15-20 plays a game ..., this not as bad a decision as people making it out to be
