This is an exerpt from website
'space eating' DT Ed Alexander off to NFL
LSU junior DT Ed Alexander declared for the 2019 NFL Draft and will not play in the Fiesta Bowl.
Alexander (6'3/331) made the SEC All-Freshman team back in 2016, but then missed time nursing a "lingering knee injury" in the early part of 2018. After getting healthy and lower his body fat percentage, Alexander started at nose tackle for LSU and has made enough of an impact to warrant an early exit. Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline gave Alexander a second-round grade back in August and called him a "space eater" in the trenches with a "terrific first step."
Does Alexander actually think he’ll get drafted before the end of day 3? What is his realistic draft grade

I know he’ll be able to at least contribute early in his career.. but with his knees I don’t see him being taken before the 6th unless it’s on a team with championship aspirations that just needs a short term stop gap at dt

I think he wants to make some kind of money before his knees give out for good.
How could you shite on anyone for that?

I wasn’t shitting on him at all? Did I say it was a bad decision? I’m curious as to what his expectations are. Practice squad players make good money.. if that’s his goal I’m perfectly okay with that. Just wanna know what his realistic expectations are.

Detillier graded him at 4th-5th round.

Weren't people saying similar things about Trai Turner's knees when he declared early? Dude's still going and at a high level at that

It was said on another post that he was gonna be suspended for the bowl game anyway. One could safely assume for academic reasons. If that is the case he might not have been eligible next year to play anyway if he dug himself a big enough hole he couldn't get out of...

Hmmmm.. wonder if he slipped up academically or was never planning on sticking around so he gave up

Common sense would suggest you evaluate the positives of coming out early vs the negatives and then do the same for staying.
If you aren't going to get drafted, what's the value of coming out early? If you think your knees are on the verge of going out, what's the value of coming out early?
I mean, it's dumb to simply assume there is a positive to leaving early, right?

He’ll make 60k in someone’s camp. maybe he feels it’a worth it.

I’ll bump this thread when he goes in the 6th 7th or undrafted

He’ll get drafted. DL are in high demand. Especially someone with his size and explosivity. We’ll see how he pans out. That knee injury will need to be watched however.

He was gonna be academically ineligible with not enough credits to move on.

That was in an average year. He said this was the best DL class in many years, so he will probably drop to 5th-7th round

He’ll make a roster, and he’ll make you look foolish.
