Is this.

When it was obvious Cholly Mac was done, he still had his "posis" to the end.

Stovall had HUGE posis till the end and when the SOB had the upward feint season of 8-3-1, they were totally blinded. He should have been fired in 81.....but nope. Instead, we had to wait for the 83 train wreck.

Archer. The same. The signs were there in 88 but you can't fire a guy who is 8-4 of course. Then, the fruits of HIS labor showed in 89. But nope. "He just won 10 games 2 years ago" mantra was out. So. We had to train wreck in 90.

And THAT one is a big deal because THEN

We hired Hallman who not only wasn't very good, but showed up to a team that had basically not recruited in 2 years. VERY bad combo. I can tell you this. EVEN HALLMAN had people arguing to keep him. "Can't just keep firing coaches.....gotta built a program" arguments.

Dinardo? Yeah. This dude had people riding his jock as hard as people rode Miles' jock. No. I'm not comparing their results. But, folks like Bill D in the infancy of the internet were out of their minds that we wanted him gone. OUT OF THEIR frickING MINDS. You don't know ANY pumpers like Bill D and his partners.

And you all know our recent history.

And, NONE of the arguments are new. If you wanted any of the above gone, you weren't a "real fan". You should "support our coach" blah blah blah.

Oh. Everyone says in HINDSIGHT they knew these dudes had to go. But that's just revisionist bull shite. Kinda like how all the Bee Gees and Vanilla Ice fans apparently died.

There are no posis and negas. There are head coach fans and LSU fans.

Don't dare lump the Bee Gees into the same category as 1 hit wonder Vanilla Ice. The Bee Gees actually had talent and had some success over different genres of music. Unfortunately, they were the biggest disco stars so they took the brunt of the blame when that style went out.

Just using them in the fact that they both sold millions of records......yet........you can't find anyone who bought them.

So, in your world, it would have been better for LSU to have gone 2-10 or 3-9 that year?

Good to know.

I love the damn Bee Gees, and Les Miles.

You play Stayin Alive at any function and there becomes a legitimate want to dance your arse off.

We've covered this. I'm a long term LSU fan. Immediate gratification for myself that creates longer term damage to the program isn't my thing.

Keeping Stovall the extra year was damaging.

4 years of Archer recruiting was CATSTROPHIC.

Besides. We already covered this also. You admit you wanted Hallman gone.

THAT means you recognized that Hallman was bad for the program.

And THAT means that if you hoped he would do something to extend the damage, you were FOR him harming the program further.

You don't get to dance on that pin no matter how hard you try.

For losing. I didn't want the team to lose to justify firing him, like you (and others) apparently did.

Projection. YOU can't root against the team (for whatever reason makes sense in your mind), and pretend to be a fan.

We'll just have to continue to disagree.

(I would have KILLED for Curley to go undefeated in 1994, period.)

False. I already knew he needed to be fired and that he was damaging the program. As did you.

So, I didn't want him to BARELY save himself so he could damage us more.

Nice try though.

Rooting for things to happen that would cause a person to damage your program more is literally ROOTING AGAINST YOUR TEAM.

When he opened 1-4, if you CONTINUED to root for that, YOU were rooting AGAINST LSU.

There is no avoiding that reality. No matter how hard you try. Those of us that at that point realized it was better for LSU if he just collapsed were the ones actually rooting FOR LSU.

YOU were rooting for immediate gratification. Yours was a selfish fandom.

This is my position now. I will never root for LSU to lose, no matter how I feel about the coaching staff. I would much rather be wrong and see them do well than be right and see the team lose.

Obviously.

But hey. Let's say O starts out 0-5. Then what are you doing?
