Okay and it was a great road win. My point still stands, it's much easier to maintain season long success in the southland than it is the SEC

McNeese must be easier to turn around.
It took Wade two years to win the SEC and make the tournament.
It appears he may win the Southland Tournament his first season at McNeese and make the 64 team tournament.
McNeese soundly beat Michigan at Michigan.

heres another question, which team will build up on this year's results next year?
Posted on 1/24/24 at 8:44 pm to Madking
I dont see Will Wade coaching there next year, seriously!!

The same people who say that McMahon should've rebuilt the team within 2 seasons also say that firing Wade set LSU basketball back 10 years. Not sure how that math works.

You do realize that McNeese is one of the absolute worst basketball schools in the southland, right? They have been historically awful, not middle of the pack, but awful. This is not the equivalent of a southland, perennial power starting over
You do realize the southland is a dogshit conference and will wade is a hell of a recruiter right? It took literally one power 5 caliber player (Shahada Wells) to make mcneese into one of the top teams in that conference.
I don’t care how bad that team was before, it’s always going to be easier to rebuild in a weaker conference than in a power 5 conference, especially with a coach as good as wade.
Obviously mcneese wont be competing for national titles but in terms of what a “rebuild” means RELATIVE to their position in the landscape of division 1 men’s basketball it is far easier at mcneese with a coach like wade

You’d have to be a complete imbecile to not be impressed with Will Wade winning road games in year 1 @ VCU, UAB, Southern Miss, Michigan, etc. Undefeated in league, 17-2, etc. Its incredible. If it was easy McNeese wouldn’t have been in the continuous college basketball dumpster for multiple decades.
An elite coach makes LSU a winner instantly. Just like an elite coach makes McNeese a winner instantly. Obviously it’s easier to do at LSU.

I think he’s gonna be there a little while. First his only desire is to get to the dance. If he can do that by getting Mcneese to a level where they walk through the Southland tourney every year he’ll stay. Secondly the school wants to build their entire athletic program around him. A lot of money over there and the AD wants to use Wade to make the spice flow. Not saying it’s a sure thing just don’t be surprised if he does.

It’s like clockwork … the same phony LSU fans show up to trash the team and jerk off to Wade.

I've probably been an LSU fan longer than you have been on earth.
I've sat and sweated through games when Charlie Mac, watched Alabama beat us year after year. Watched Dale Brown struggle to build LSU into a winner.
It gets old, man, when we finally get a charismatic winner, the gutless admin won't support him.

We got guys saying mcneese is an easier job than LSU.

That’s just sad. So much negative energy put into trashing the team you supposedly love.

I think this hinges on what we mean by "rebuild". In terms of sustained top 25 rankings, deep NCAAT runs, etc. its LSU.
In terms of being at the top of the conference and making NCAAT it's McNeese.
You take a coach like Wade and put him at McNeese he's likely winning the conference and conference tournament year 1.
It all hinges on what the end goal is and what constitutes a "rebuild".

“Loyalty means telling hard truths” Rot takes over when you deny the truth and convince others to join in the lie.

Someone’s opinion doesn’t make it the truth.
