I graduated in 1972. The 19 is for the age my brother died in Vietnam. 88 is the age my hero died - my father. It’s all good though.

“Bet” is the key word. For over a hundred years people used logic, like you just did, to place guys like Crews in the 3 hole. Then somebody studied it and found out that the math supported the less intuitive strategy to lead them off.
Similarly, logic leads us to believe that boarding the back rows of an airplane first will result in a faster overall boarding time. This is intuitively obvious - until Southwest started general boarding and beat the crap out of everyone else.
Sometimes what is intuitively obvious is just wrong.
