right, whether we individually would’ve made that decision is beyond the point. he had his rationale for doing it. if I’m a hog fan I might be upset but I wouldn’t consider it a “panic” move

what no one would’ve asked him, and probably for good reason because it’d be incredibly disrespectful and paint a target on his back, is that the team they have to beat is one of the weaker teams to ever make it to this point. logically speaking, pulling the plug and throwing your chips in against them monday isn’t entirely irrational

would I have hooked Root there, probably not. but, they’re a good enough team that a scenario can present itself where that decision goes down as legendary

now….if they frick around on Monday….thats the kind of move that would cost a lot of less tenured guys their job

His answer during the game was a lot better.

FFS, that's a dumb thing to say.

Is Gaeckle so effective because he releases the ball after an NBA euro step 45 feet from the plate?

Ok. I just listed to his quote. He didn't say what the OP said. He basically said what was said during the in game interview.

He didn't want to fall behind any further and felt the game was on the line...and had a great pitcher warmed up already.

He didn’t have it tonight and he pulled him early to save him for another night. We’ll see if it pays off.

Could you provide a full quote. I would feel like, if I was a player, defeated if my coach said to national media, in the second inning the game was over because we weren't going to score.

He said the same thing during the in-game interview. Basically said he feels fine with Roots performance some games with elite pitching are won and lost in the first 2-3 innings. He also felt confident in his relief pitching being just as effective as Root. Ultimately hogs couldn’t score and DVH still has his ace ready to go. I didn’t necessarily agree with the decision but it makes sense.

Except that's not what he said at all. But nice clickbait thread title, I suppose.
