Simply duct tape around your doors.

Tests using different tapes, sandbags and a variety of doors have been carried out at the University of Hull.

The research found, when compared with an unprotected door, flexible synthetic rubber tape reduced water leakage by 99%, duct tape by 97 to 98% and sandbags by 70%.

Stuart McLelland, professor of water science, said the research could provide "immediate benefits" by helping households "reduce the amount of floodwater entering their homes".

A number of different doors were placed in a large water tank, which was then flooded.

Some doors were taped and some protected with sandbags. Synthetic "sandless" sandbags were also tested.

Researchers found the lowest performing tape reduced leakage by 80%, while taped outward-opening doors performed better than those that opened inward.

Water seeps into buildings in a lot of other places besides doors. What are we gonna do, duct tape the entire bottom few feet of brick and siding homes?

Duct Tape
Baling Wire
????

3 items that can fix 90% of your problems

Guessing you want to put the Duct Tape on the outside where the pressure is on the non sticky side. If you did not on the inside, seems built out water pressure would not hold as well.

You laugh but I have my grandpas 1957 aluminum flat boat that leaked from the rivets and a few cracks. I sanded them down and brushed liquid flex seal on them about 8 years ago. I regularly run the boat with a 25hp engine and it holds all day without leaks. That stuff is wild

In that picture, is that the tape, or rolled-on goo that peals off?

Was about to post the same exact thing. There is no way to completely seal off a home from standing water.

Sands bags only slow down intrusion from waves of water from reaching the home such as when assholes fly down the flooded street and make giant wakes.

Sounds like a challenge for my duct tape.

Exactly, there are weep holes in the brick ledges and counterflashing at the framed walls where siding is located.

Then you tape up the doors and climb in the window? or is when you're taping up your house and leaving for higher ground?

Sandbags by themselves are essentially a placebo. Visqueen and sandbags used in combination is a lot more practical and effective than duct taping your doors.

Best thing would be a tried and true levee system around your house.

More practical? WTF. Explain please.

Filling bags, retrieved bags, visqueen, and then the immense labor needed to put that, and it still leaks horribly.

Or simply tape doors and low windows...and yes, seep holes in brick is easily done as well, in about 1/10th of the time
