Recruits and current players. The 51 number includes everyone. Crews, Romo, Cabrera, Henry, at least.
I haven't seen lately what the final determination on the draft is, but I do think it's been trending more toward going more than 5 rounds.

As of now, it will only be expanded to include returning seniors. Which means LSU's max would be 37 with Beck and George. If one, or both, don't return we are at 35 or 36.

B doughty is nothing more than a walk on bullpen catcher
He doesn’t affect your 27 counters and is not on scholly
Guys like Willis, Biggs and Gunter are my bets to move on
All three could go juco one year

Nobody outside of a few conferences will want it. With the way it stands right now the smaller schools are going to be big winners from this, picking up the scraps from the big boys who have to trim a bunch of players.

It will end up pushing a lot of guys there, both off current rosters and in the incoming classes, but the dam hasn't broken on that yet.
Wabash Valley has been cleaning up though, they got a transfer from Coastal Carolina and North Carolina, and flipped commits from Florida, Miami, and Kentucky I think.
They're going to be loaded with draft guys for 2021.
And the NCAA will have to figure out relief for 2021 and 2022. This roster bump isn't a one year issue.

I think this roster crunch could push him to an off roster role.
A lot of programs have bullpens catchers as part of their equipment manager staff. No reason Doughty couldn't do that.
ETA: Also, we are at 50 players right now, not 51 as I said earlier. Sorry for that.

Yeah. So we're effectively at 50/37 or 48/35.
ETA: We could have 6 draft losses in 5 rounds, I forgot about Beck Way.
If it goes 10 rounds, then you have to think about Ty Floyd, Brody Drost, Saul Garza, AJ Labas, Theo Millas, Zach Murray, Blake Money.

Not enough contact and bat discipline especially for a coach's kid. Wasn't likely to get much better
