Mickey
It's not like he couldn't do that better in the developmental league or Europe where he could devote himself to developing his shooting.

He reminds me of PJ Brown with better defense

I have no doubt Martin could go into the league next year as a rookie and be a rotation player averaging 15-20 minutes a game. I think Mickey would get annihilated.

Have you watched LSU play this season?

I am...

It's really for selfish reasons cause I think he would be a perfect for next year as a rim protector with the scorers we will have.

Have you seen the quality of bench players? Take a look at some of the teams in the bottom 1/3 of the league, how can you tell Martin wouldn't contribute.

I think Mickey needs to work on his hands in and around the paint. Too often he loses the ball without contact or straight up doesn't catch a good pass right to him.

Martin's body is ready for the NBA, though he could shed some baby fat. He just doesn't really have that killer instinct you want from a guy with his athleticism.

I agree. Both of them get backed down in the lane way too easy. Mickey kind of baits the offensive player and tries to block the shot and Martin fakes playing defense so he can hurry up and play offense. Martins defense is non existant.

He's not a great defender, but out of all the starters Martin has the 2nd best defensive rating and defensive win share, just behind Mickey.

I've watched most of the games. Martin can definitely play in the NBA in the 2015-2016 and contribute.

Martin took plays off on defense at the beginning of the season. He has been much better about that lately.

Martin is the much better prospect.

They both seem very raw still.

You probably think Mickey is a good defender as well.

PJ Brown was 6'11".
Mickey reminds me of Tim Perry out of Temple but Martin is a bit more unique.

Mickey is just one of those talents someone like Billy Donovan would convince to come back to school and anchor a title team. It'll be crucial we get one of the two back

Neither possess what the nba covets at this time. Can't create shots, can't finish strong, can't handle ball well enough to play 3, can't defend down low or on perimeter. Hopefully they get honest encouragement from their families

Well said. Rudy Macklin was on the radio this week and said neither are NBA ready. Said both are D league players at this time.

I don't know that NBA teams look at it the same way we do. I think they feel they can develop kids for the NBA game better than their college coaches can.

And if they see some potential they would rather have control of that development.

This. NBA is all about potential.

And I don't think that many people on here realize how big of a crapshoot the NBA draft is. Just go look at previous drafts and you'll see what I mean.
