hence the garbage high school level music

I'd like to see the HS band that can play the music Tiger Band plays on the march. Its not the most entertaining music (i'm always saying how boring our shite was) but its usually fairly difficult.

If I were you, I'd not speak on shite I don't know anything about.

Could all this mean the return of Tiger Rag during pregame?

no clue, but she wasn't the one solely responsible for it leaving in the first place. She was directed by athletics to remove it.

As a 4 year member who had to rewrite the drum charts each week to make them even remotely challenging and interesting, I think I'm qualified to speak on it.

85 percent of the field music is nothing more than a stock chart ordered from the same company high schools order from. I played most of those same arrangements in high school. Linda picked them because they were easy to dance to.

We played some fricking hard shite in Tiger Band. Sure, some selections were easy, but for the most part, I disagree with you. If anything though, the music should have been easier because that means it probably wouldn't have been one of those recycled Latin shows and something the crowd enjoyed instead.

Either way, the DM really rubbed alot of people the wrong way there whether or not he knows it. Thinking you are the best thing since sliced bread doesn't fly with a bunch of college-age kids. It's a shame, because I think most of the time the intentions were good, but running errands for the directors gave him some sort of power trip when all was said and done.

Let's not forget that she also eviscerated and expelled JUMAS ten years ago or so. It took her over 15 years to do it, but she did it.

Back in the 70s and 80s, there was a guy from Texas, I believe, who wrote music charts (drum charts were always written by the drum captain) specifically for Tiger Band. His name was Edmonds or something like that. I'm sure Los Angeles Tiger could help with that. He died in 1986 or 1987. Music-wise, Tiger Band has never been the same. Linda was in charge of the Basketball band then, and she picked shitty music for the basketball band.

This guy wrote medleys that had a theme, the best of which (IMO) was the "Rain Show" v. Ole Miss in 1986 (I could be wrong about the team and year ). All tunes would flow seamlessly into the next. Midway through 1987, that all changed, culminating in a Gator Bowl show that featured a "spiritual" and Alexander's Ragtime Band. WTF? It was downhill for the next 8-10 years.

The marching and playing has gotten infinitely better since about 94-95 reaching the point TB is at now--which is the top. And LRM is responsible for most of it, IMO. She's kind of a c-word, but she's good at what she does, for the most part.

Some of you guys haven't the first clue what the hell yall are talking about. That woman may have been tough, powerful, and different, but damn it she did the damn thing at LSU. This is my senior year and like many others Im afraid to go back to tiger band bc the traditions, the techniques, and the over all structure is in danger. We still got Roy, but if we get a prick for a new director you think Roy will stay long? I may not have loved this woman like some but I respected her. She made Tigerband what it was, from the music to the individual effort that was put out. You don't know fear till your at cut night and this woman is walking around tapping people on the shoulder to get out.

Oh. Fwiw, the directors of the band have very (VERY) little to do with a song being banned. When our fans, god bless them, sing "arse holes", and "you suck, cocks" to the bands songs the A.D. get to take the heat. When that hit national television the band directors didn't care until the university said something about it. From a non tiger's perspective it sounds like the band is responsible for the chant....the main reason it got cut is bc the old people running LSU didn't want to look bad.

I have no issues with what he did "on the field" so to speak. But behind the scenes, he did some pretty shitty stuff. He could be a backstabber...the type of guy who would step on other people to make himself look better. He seemed to be a "me! me! me!" guy. I know there is a large group that would disagree. But there is also a large group who agrees that he wore out his welcome.

no, it isn't. pregame isn't going to change. the cheers in the stands aren't going to change. Its not going to turn into the Human Jukebox at halftime. Simmer down. Most fans probably won't even notice.

JUMAS never went away, it just went underground. I am an original JUMAS and have this word from a recent graduate of LSU that was JUMAS as fact.

Does someone have the words to the Ole Miss song that JUMAS had? All I remember is it was from "Dixie" that Ole Miss band plays all of the time.

"You sound just like a drunken fairy
that's what happens when cousins marry
go to hell, go to hell, go to hell Ole Miss.

Eat shite, Ole Miss
you're the a-holes of the south."

I still have my jersey from our JUMAS intermural softball team during my days in TGBFTL. Might be a little tight now.
