Wasn't there speculation that some guy from Tennessee got the job?

I believe he was offered it, but turned it down. But I'm not positive.

Here is what I heard from someone I trust and he knows a lot about this area.

When Wickes retired, the university was going to make Linda go through the application process just like everyone else. (In my opinion, Linda should have been given the job without needing to conduct a search).

Linda supposedly didn't like that she would have to apply and go through the process so she didn't apply.

After the university couldn't find someone they wanted, the went to Linda to see if she was still interested, but she had already taken the job at Illinois.

Don't know for sure how much of this is accurated, but my friend says it is legit.

Linda will be missed in Tiger Band.

ego move but then me and you both knew that Linda had a huge ego amirite????

Again Tiger Band will go on without Linda and it will still be awesome....Linda could still be there if her head hadn't outgrown even the new band hall.

Are you a band nerd that's out of touch with reality?

Yes, let's get rid of "Neck"...a song that the whole stadium seems to love as well as the visiting fans. Yes, other bands play it - so what. LSU does a good version. Over the last number of years, I've heard more people ask about that song and what it was than any other I can think of.

Scott Hanna and I joined Tiger Band at the same time. He's got great experience and a certain cache at UT, I think it would be a great move if he ended up at LSU.

Come back Scott, we need ya!

They have to go through a search process and advertise the position , that is standard process even if they want to promote from within

I agree. It would also be GREAT for a Mu Phi member to be the director of Tiger Band.

I was in band 05-07, and I can tell you that Morehouse's rule over tigerband was really starting to sour with a lot of the members that I knew. She was a big reason I decided not to go back to band my senior year. IMO Roy king was a better tigerband director than Linda. Now, concert bands, I really don't know cause I never played in a concert band.

LRM leaving is going to breathe a ton of new life into the program.

I actually agree with you. I love me up some Roy King and I'm glad this has panned out for him. He was GREAT as section leader of the drumline when I was in TB.

What are we going to do? This is really going to hurt our oboe recruiting. Thank g-d we are loaded at many of the positions. We are stacked at drummers and flutes. Depending on who we get we might be in trouble when it comes to the horn sections. Hopeful the band has a "want" to be great in 2010.
