I've been saying we needed to see more JL all season. I thought JJ showed his weaknesses in UGA game. I think he is scared to make a tough throw. His arm is weaker than I thought and he doesn't seem to check down.

Where was he the whole game for the dunps over the middle?

They won't throw the ball over the middle because they are afraid JJ will throw a pick 6 to a LB.

So we've had 2 4-star QBs who regressed over a season...you think thats just coincidence, or maybe they arent getting adequate coaching?

I'm sure that's all he does during practice too

Practice time hasnt seemed to help JJ or JL. Neither has game time...

We hired good defensive coaches, and now every week the defense looks better and better. Improvement. We've seen nothing like that from the offense last year and this year. So sure the QB position has been bad, but that's the point of coaching. It's the hardest position to play and kids have to learn. Our QBs dont seem to be getting that.

You can't teach pocket awareness and instinct. Some people have it some don't. You literally have a split second to make a decision. JJ is not making the right ones.

I couldn't agree more! Any other coach in the country would have at least tried something different. I still don't understand why RS sat on the bench the enire game...??

if a player or group of players are not getting the job done,.... IT IS A COACHING PROBLEM.....
at the end of the day all responcibility lays on the shoulders of one man LES MILES, and if he can't get the job done then the AD, IF HE CAN'T GET THE JOB DONE, then the BOARD OF SUPERVISERS, who answer indirectly to the public, you and I, the TIGER FANS.
Note: I do not care for the boo-birds, it doesn't motivate the players to play better

I tend to agree also....but what is the answer?

Im of the opinion that whoever you use, be it Shep, J Lee, (Check that dudes qb rating this year...lol)

Come on, take a shot against a crappy defense. Do something different. Let the dude get a rhythmm and a feel for whats going on. Give him a few series to do something. If he screws up if he throws a couple of ints....well, lean on the defense and pray they keep performing like they have.

LSU can't run the ball because we have no vertical passing threat! Are you fricking people watching the same games I am???? Jefferson threw one pass over 10 yds all night! Just throw one 60 yds down field 1 time a game.

True to an extent. A good passing game would help the run. But throwing 5-10 yards to the TE will also losen the line. Screens and quick slants would also be helpful. A few years back UF ate our lunch with the TE over the middle. Also when running long routes have someone short in case your QB has to get rid of the ball quickly.

Hell, during the UGA game he was saying JJ had regressed and has not shown any improvement as a QB.

Just another weapon we held back just to make the game fair for UF.

IMO, Miles needs to have him practice timing drills with full contact. He needs to be able to pick a man and release the ball within 2.5 seconds, otherwise, he needs to COMMIT to a run, rather than try to avoid and make a pass.

One of the things we saw in earlier games, that we didn't against UGA and FLA were -as mentioned before- quick slants and TE passes.

With these quick throws, eventually the defense will have to drop a rusher or two back into zone to cover those, easing up on the pressure on JJ.

(JL regressed last year)+
(JJ can't get rid of the ball if the primary read is covered)+
(Texas Tech and OU lose their starting QB's and have backups come in off the bench who get rid of the ball quickly and can make multiple reads and throw for over 300 ypg)= our QB coaching is really really bad.
Is it just too complicated or can we just not coach QB's worth a dang- I don't know.
