If O wants Nielson and LSU wants Mason... then their both incompetent and should be fired.
Nielsen is his buddy. I actually like the coach.. but Nielsen is too comfy. O needs to feel uncomfortable. Freeman would do that.
Bill Johnson was an incompetent coach who could neither spot talent, develop talent, coach talent, nor put the talent in the best position to succeed. A complete fricking idiot Sean Payton kept for about 4 years too long.
Nielson excels every in area Bill Johnson was an abject failure. The guy knows how to find that gem in the rough, exactly what he is looking for whether it be a 3 star prospect or late/UDFA. He quickly develops and coaches the talent and puts them in best position to succeed. He doesn't force a natural 3 tech to play nose, or a 5 tech to drop in coverage or ---...whevever guys will play best based on their body type and natural skillset, that's where they play. If the are versatile, they will play all positions they are good at up and down the LOS.
The Saints defense and defensive line production, performance, and development, under Nielson, is fricking night and day legit awesome and allows the back 7 to be dominant at times because they rarely have to blitz and get pressure all game long with front 4.
Hire that fricking dude ASAP

I’m hearing the name Derek Mason a lot which makes me want to throw up in my mouth. It’s yet another safe hire for O because he doesn’t have to look over his shoulder. O lacks self-confidence and self-awareness. That’s what happens when you realize that you are under-qualified for your current job.
Go freaking hire Marcus Freeman. That guy wants to be a head coach. I don’t care if he is here for a year or two.. you’re gonna get his best shot. He wants O’s job. Hire people who want your job. LSU is proving ground. You win here, you get a HC job.
Same goes for offense. Go get Tom Manning or somebody like that. Your offenses rolls.. you might wind up in the freaking NFL.
Don’t let O hire a damn person. He will never hire somebody who scares him.. he treats this job like it’s own personal social club. We all need to be pushed to be our best. If this really is his dream job, then he needs to start treating it like such and put the program in the best place to succeed.
Where or when did you hear Derek Masons name out of Orgerons or any LSU officials mouth. Thats right you didnt. All you have done is read this rant board and others to make an assumption about a hire. Some of you people are insufferable !!!!!!!!

It's easy to lead when you have a bunch of yes men as followers. Winners do not accept mediocre results from anyone. You think Saban would put with the shite that CEO has let slide? He don't care if you are fiends or not you are going to do your job at a high level or find somewhere else to work.

We got stuck with Orgeron because of a meddling AD. You let Orgeron hire his own people. When the Program hits a reef again, there is only one person to point a finger towards. LSU would have given Orgeron more than enough leeway to correct the Coordinator issues.

You don't let scott woodward make the hires
Thing is o does need help. Thats the problem
Im not happy if its mason.
Marcus freeman should be the hire.
Make him tell you no.
He is an excellent recruiter. He is young and fiery

Even if O had been a coordinator he would still have to rely on his assistants big time. There is this illusion out there that just because a person has been a OC or DC and then becomes a HC that somehow they are still managing the coordinator duties as well. That is rarely the case. A Head Coach’s job is to manage the entire team and be the face of the program. The HC ain’t got time to be a coordinator too.
Nick Saban has input on his defensive scheme
and the general defensive approach is his. Saban may take time to give instruction to a player occasionally but you can be sure he is not handling the daily planning function and scheme of the defense. He simply doesn’t have time to do that; regardless if he has been a coordinator. You can bet that he is big time reliant on his coordinators to do their jobs; no different than Orgeron. Throughout his career, Saban has routinely had to replace coaches, and coordinators, almost every year. Saban was never an offensive coach, no more than Orgeron, and Alabama routinely has one of the best offenses in football; like this year.
