People seem to expect the absolute worst from this guy. I understand he had a pretty rough start to the year and his first couple of games were not pretty (actually atrocious). What everyone seems to forget is that the year prior, with one of the more ineffective O-lines in the last few years, he still passed for 2,177 yards and 17 TDs with only 7 interceptions.

This last year, despite not being the full time QB (still probably got 70% of the snaps) he overcame his early struggles and finished the year strong. After going for about 700 yards, 2 TDs, and 7 INTs in the first eight games he closed the last five with another 700+ yards, 5 TDs, and 3 picks while running the zone read like a champ.

With a new offensive coordinator that has the team and the fans excited I have no doubt that he can return to his very effective form, and it pains me to see all the haters completely bashing the kid every single day.

That's the scary part, he regressed. But I honestly think it has a lot to do with Crowton. I have more confidence in Kragthorpe that he will use his strengths and scheme around with Jefferson can do as opposed to what he can't do.

I don't hate college players, but cmon. Finishing the year strong in college is not averaging a throwing touchdown a game.

I will be happy to see him excel this year. I am also grateful the Tigers have three qb's this year that could play and play well. That is something that has been missing for a few years now.

Like I've said before. If he is able to improve his game and contribute to a winning squad, then I have absolutely no problem with him being the starter.

You do realize this statement is false
quote:

This last year, despite not being the full time QB (still probably got 70% of the snaps)

He got way more than 70% of the snaps I hope you realize that.

LSU ran 839 plays
LSU had 301 Passing plays Jefferson accounted for 69% of those... Jefferson alone accounted for 39% of snaps just between rushing/throwing

Jefferson played full games against
- Texas A&M
- Vanderbilt
- West Virginia
- North Carolina
- Mississippi State

Against Arkansas and Ole Miss, Jefferson played 95% or more of the game as Lee only attempted 6 total passes meaning he was only in for a series or two.

Jefferson got about 80-85% of the total snaps of the offense. So I understand you are trying to defend Jefferson but unless he becomes more consistent and not hit or miss then he will continue to be critiqued. Same as Lee, same as any player who wears an LSU uniform.

I'll support whoever the coaches decide to start until he shits the bed...same as last year. I belive that JJ is a better QB than Lee, but I haven't seen Mett in action, so I'll reserve judgment. Unlike a lot of folks on this board, however, I like the kid. I saw him take a couple of tough hits and even throw a pretty significant block.

If he plays all of next year like he did the latter half of 10 (a little above average, by SEC standards) we'll be fine. If Mett's better, however, he should start.

It's JJ supporters that are the blind ones. I've never seen any starting QB, especially not a returning starter, look so completely lost. He's good in bowl games with a month to prepare, otherwise it will be another season of offense until we start someone else.

I don't hate jefferson but I do hate his ability to play qb. I don't know that we have a better option, but dont kid yourself about him ever playing well. He was completely ineffective against Arkansas and he makes the oline look bad. He played decent versus a&m, which is not sec caliber.

Technically, JJ didn't regress last year. He perfected the Lost Look that he originally delivered in the '09 Ole Miss game.

I don't give a fu ck if LSU QBs never throw another TD pass if they win the game.

Albeit, JJ did look terrible @ times last season and a world beater on others. (not trying 2 sound like a broken record), but the reason that GC was bounced everywhere else he's landed was quite simply HE CAN'T PRODUCE QB'S, period!!!!!!
If you don't believe me check his track record.

LINK

Everywhere he's been, that team had one good season and talented QB already in place, after that SQUAT, ZELCH, NADA. I'm sorry when I see a QB with the same wrong mechanics from high school to college, its coaching.

Some winners can still excel, despite a coach's inability to correct bad mechanics:

C'mon, man! Don't you know simply winning is never enough for the Rant? You've get no credit for winning the WRONG way . . . which in Rantard terms means, "whatever way Les Miles wins."
