Don’t forget the Missouri and USCe factor when looking at NCAA seeding

First of all, I think right now LSU is a top 8 seed.
But what will the committee do with the 5 wins LSU racked up over Missouri and South Carolina? Missouri got swept 9 out of 10 SEC weeks. They are the worst team in SEC history. South Carolina would have been last place in a normal year with no Mizzou.
I see people acting like the committee would never seed teams behind LSU in the SEC standings ahead of us, but what if they look at this?
Games vs Missouri and South Carolina:
LSU 6
Vandy 0
UGA 3
Auburn 3

The fact that we played these 2 should be irrelevant. If conference schedule is a factor, they should look at which 5 teams everyone didn't play.
For us it would be-
Georgia
Vandy
Florida
Ole Miss
Kentucky
We likely dodged 5 tournament teams there. I don't think it matters though. If the SEC gets 5 in the top 8 they would be hard pressed having us at 6 IMO

They're going to look at the RPI as a whole and the Strength of Record and Strength of Schedule. They are not going to just select two series and go "You know what this team played 55 games but 6 of them were against bad teams so they don't get a top 8 seed." Jesus you have made everyone dumber for creating this thread. You are an embarrassment to your family and to humanity in general.

Probably the same thing that they do for Arkansas

Another dumb post that has zero facts in it

Missouri swept the preseason No. 1 team. Factor that into your equation.

And all of those SEC teams that finished with LSU or right below them have a better RPI and SOS than LSU. Thank you for proving my point.

He didn’t prove anything other than your post being inaccurate and meaningless

Talk about hating the messenger just because you don’t like the truth.
We don’t know if LSU is currently a top 8 seed, but LSU definitely has a SOS problem.
IMO the new world of unbalanced schedules takes the automatic bid based on x number of wins off the table.

What is inaccurate in my original post?

LMFAO you say two series and now want to point to RPI and SOS as proving your point. Your point was 6 games against bad opponents vs others only having 0 or 3 games against those 2 teams. That is not going to be considered because its a 55+ picture. Also, those aren't the only factors they look at.

I must be talking to a bunch of morons.
LSU's RPI and SOS is lower than every other SEC team that were are battling with for a top 8 seed. Why is it lower? Because we were fortunate enough to play the worst two teams in the SEC, one of them being the worst SEC team of all time. The other SEC teams battling for a top 8 seed did not get to play both of them, and Vandy played neither.
A committee just might factor that into their seedings.
Do I think LSU is a top 8 seed, yes. But to act like it's preposterous with zero logic to drop LSU near the 8 line is just not thinking straight.

You’re forgetting to factor in that LSU will always get post season favor over any other school because of the money they bring to Omaha. As long as humans are involved in the selection process, politics will be too and that outweighs any RPI math you can do. LSU would have to shite itself in Hoover and a situation would have to play out where’s it’s blatantly obvious that 8 other teams deserve a nod for LSU to not be a top 8. And even then they still might be.

You’re acting like the committee is going to carve out a new data point specifically for this “played Mizzou and SC” metric you’re pushing.
This fact is already part of SoS and RPI. That’s one of the reasons why LSU falls below its similarity situated Top 8 competitors in those data points. SoS and RPI are part of the committee’s considerations. There’s nothing new to see here.

Since the tournament expanded to 64 teams, who had the highest rated RPI of a team to not receive an at large bid to the tournament?
LSU 2011. RPI was like 23. They got left at home.

I never said it was preposterous for us to not be a top 8 seed. I said it is dumb for a committee to select 6 games out of the control of the team in a conference schedule as the reason they are left out. If LSU is not a top 8 seed its going to be more about going 0-3 against Auburn or potentially 0-4 depending on the Conference Tourney than the 5-1 record against Mizzou and South Carolina.

Played the schedule they were given. This is what they say about crap football teams that have good seasons against week competition
Posted on 5/19/25 at 9:24 am to Choupique19
Please stop. Mizzou and USCe factor into the RPI.
