I don’t think anyone is feeling sorry for him

The only thing I felt bad for him about was the divorce

It’s public record
Look it up

The athletic department gives university money every year not as much with SW but still cuts a check

Do you have a link? I'm mot seeing where he reported the amount of the buyout.

Also, as others have stated, it doesnt make sense if they have been negotiating the deal.

edit- Never mind, I see it. Surprising nonetheless.

It is not now but could be if they manage to blow the huge amount of revenue coming in.

If the team wins out he will take that $17 million and coach at USC or Miami next year at $5 million / year. Possibly with Mullen as his OC
I would actually like to see what O can do at Miami.

I don't. He's wealthy beyond anything i'll ever be and 99.9% of anyone else on this chat board. Good luck to him.

Its a negotiated payout. There are several line items in the agreement that could cause EdO to lose the full buyout over the length of the contract

I bet there are stipulations regarding recruiting and others things in order to receive full buyout.
