DOGE’s real legacy is going to be historic

A lot of people think DOGE was a failure… but what really happened is Elon left, things got quieter, and the nerds at DOGE got split up into actual departments.
Joe Gebbia, AirBnb founder, who joined the admin to update the government’s technical capabilities. He leads the “National Design Studio”. They’ve digitized the fed gov retirement process so it doesn’t take months and an underground salt mine to retire. They found most departments can’t actually communicate with each other even if they do similar things so they’ve increased connectivity and reduced wasteful overlap. They’ve built TrumpRX, the Trump Accounts and now a new IRS app
Next week they’ll be rolling out America.gov.
The other major DOGE legacy will be the fraud task force. Announced today they’ve identified over 260 billion in fraud, they’re using AI and machine learning to find fraud that would’ve taken one person months to find one case. This week they’ve identified 750k fraud “zombie” Obamacare recipients to kick off the rolls. And it will only accelerate.

Id like to think it was a success but until I start seeing budgets decline I'm gonna have a hard time seeing where it mattered at all. Firing a bunch of feds is nice but if you just send more money somewhere else to be stolen or laundered then what does it really matter?
