Or does his power numbers keep him from winning it?

I wouldn't say his power numbers keep him from winning but he absolutely does not have it on lock, there's still a good bit of baseball to be played and (although i don't know who) I'm sure there is a player that's close on his heels for BA

If he finishes at about .475 or higher then I think he has to get it...with or without power numbers.

He should win SEC POY over Zunino...which I thought Zunino had it lock prior to this year.

Closest guy is nearly 50 points behind him.

He needs the guys in front of him in the lineup to do a better job of getting on base so he can boost his RBI numbers.

I haven't followed enough college baseball to know if he has it on lock, but he sure is having a great season.

Out of curiosity, I wonder how much weight they would put on a player's versatility. I'm thinking of Fullerton's Michael Lorenzen, who was on the list to begin the year. While he is only batting .327 (27 RBI, 0 HR, 14 2B 11 SBs) he is also 2-0 with 12 saves and a 1.65 ERA in 15 appearances (15 Ks in 16.1 IP). For the record, I don't think he has done enough with the bat to be in the conversation with Rhymes, but rather just wondering about how the award might view players who play a variety of roles.

His teammates can give a boost to his chances by making a run to Omaha.

A run at Omaha plus perhaps some clutch hits to win a SEC Tourny or Regional game will help his case. There needs to be a laundry list of highlights so it can be a no brainer.

He flat-out humiliated UK pitching yesterday. I'm not saying that's Golden Spike worthy, but it's not possible to be more on fire than he is now. I agree with an Omaha run being the deciding factor barring a severe slump.

I think everytime someone complains about his power number's he goes and hits a homerun. He just need's to get his doubles up which i think he will lead the team and hit a couple more home runs. He is having a amazing season but he still needs to DH.

Zunino's numbers aren't that great this year. While he does lead the SEC in homers, he's only batting .336. Rhymes actually has more RBIs than him.

no way it is wrapped up.

hell he needs to watch out for Gausmann.

Gausmann is 7-1 with a 3.00era and 88 K's in 69 IP.

If Gausmann finishes say 12-1 with an era around 3.00 and 120 K's he is right there to win it also.

Way to early to crown anyone yet.

FYI..Gausmann was on the first watch list a second watch list comes out May 1 and 30 semfinalists are named on May 29.

I would expect Rhymes and Gausmann to make both lists.
