re: Does Miss St have an actual chance this week?

I agree that we're better across the board, but they have definitely narrowed the point gap the last two years. I'm just glad it's a home game this year, the home opener especially. It looks like our D-line is back to normal form. I just worry about whether or not we can pound out the run if the passing game isn't working. Miss St plays considerably tougher defense than Vanderbilt.

BTW, I do not have my head in the sand because I am convinced that LSU will whip MSU's arse.
ha ! you saw that huh ? dude all i am saying is that for 3 quarters we did not "dominate" vandy. the D was impressive for sure though !

Anyone watching LSU the last two years knows optimism will be tempered with reality. Yes, Moo You stands a chance. Most likely LSU will look good the first half, and fade in the second and let a team who doesn't deserve to be in the game, in the game. LSU will win, but it will not be a blowout.

I love how dominant performance now equals 10-3 over Vandy for three quarters.

Yes. Think this game will be close.

I love how the offensive jugernaut that is MSU scored 10 points at home on an Auburn team that gave up over 20 to Arky State the week before at their place.
This game will not be close in the end...
How is MSU going to score?

We also held a much better offense than LSU's to 17, and two of those scores came off of turnovers.

How is Auburn a much better offense? They have one player that is a legitimate threat. Key on Newton and you stop their offense. They scored a bunch of points against Arky State...

They don't have Crowton or JJ

I think LSU wins easy.
we don't do that anymore. but I think we got a shot at being the 02 Buckeyes.

I wouldn't ever expect a blowout from our team this year. Not saying we're not good, but it's just not how we operate. We are able to control the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball (so far at least) and steadily exert our will. Though the halftime score against Vandy wasn't a huge gap, anyone watching the game could tell it wasn't close.
My bigger concern is just the emotion that surrounds the game, and all SEC games in general. In this age of parity, there are few "guaranteed wins" within the conference. Dan Mullen has proven himself to be an excellent coach and though they won't contend for the West they'll still give every team a fight week after week.

LSU is their own worst enemy in this game. Like I said before, they should win the game (and win it fairly handily I might add). However, if the defense has UNC-like breakdowns and the offense can’t get the ball to its playmakers, Miss. St. could come into Death Valley and steal a win. Bottom line is that SEC football is SEC football no matter who you play. LSU needs to come out, make a statement and not allow the Bulldogs to stay in the game like they were last week against Auburn.
this is what i meant to say, the other poster is just better at writing his point of view....

Ban This is not an LSU fan.
really? season ticket holder for over 15 years, always donate to TAF's philanthropic programs, graduated from LSU, travel to away and bowl games.
just remember, i'll still be in the stands at the end of the game, and at the end of the season after Miles has ran off the so-so fans from the stadium.

Yeah, at some point people are going to have to stop predicting 30 point wins. LSU didn't do that against Vandy.

Yes, they have a chance, but we have a better chance. 20-13 Tigers.
