re: 2-0 NFL Teams: Legit or Paper Tigers?

To be fair, yeah they did give up 403 passing yards but only 18 rushing yards. Giving up 421 total yards in a tightly contested OT shootout isn't all that bad.
I think the Texans are going to be a real threat this year; they have the same kind of mojo the Saints had last year.

Read this about the NFL today - might be my new favorite football read after TMQ. He talks about the Texans some:

I wouldn't ever expect a blowout from our team this year. Not saying we're not good, but it's just not how we operate. We are able to control the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball (so far at least) and steadily exert our will. Though the halftime score against Vandy wasn't a huge gap, anyone watching the game could tell it wasn't close.

My bigger concern is just the emotion that surrounds the game, and all SEC games in general. In this age of parity, there are few "guaranteed wins" within the conference. Dan Mullen has proven himself to be an excellent coach and though they won't contend for the West they'll still give every team a fight week after week.
I agree that we're better across the board, but they have definitely narrowed the point gap the last two years. I'm just glad it's a home game this year, the home opener especially. It looks like our D-line is back to normal form. I just worry about whether or not we can pound out the run if the passing game isn't working. Miss St plays considerably tougher defense than Vanderbilt.
Hate to bring up old memories, but last year wasn't the biggest cake walk of the season. I fully expect LSU to win, but do you think it'll come down to the wire again? I think our team has improved significantly while Miss St has stayed about the same (just my opinion).

I read the score predictions but everyone is just posting random guesses. Do we dominate them like we did Vandy or is this going to be as terrifying as last season?

Yeah that was me. There are four reasons for the shorts:

1) I really wanted a way to carry my phone and wallet around (pockets).

2) The shorts were cool looking.

3) It was hot as balls in that thing and I was sweating in every conceivable location.

4) Taking that thing off to pee is not easy. I intend to get a zipper in a key location so I can drink all day and not have bathroom trips be an ordeal.

I'll trot it back out once the temperature in Baton Rouge gets reasonable.
