I agree with this. Use to think it was a no brainer, now not so sure. You'd think there would be rumors floating around. Agents love floating their clients' name in hopes of a payraise.

No who said that Jones is getting fired? I have yet to see or hear one thing about Jones getting fired from the LSU brass.

The Lady Tigers' record this year probably saved her job more so than anything related to JJ. Jones has not been fired yet, and Alleva would surprise nobody if Jones isn't fired. After all, Alleva is Alleva.

I would think do, but I'm hearing rumblings that we will be hiring two new basketball coaches. I can only assume that maybe she has let the AD know she will be moving on once the season is over.

Why would she sign her niece in this recruiting class then leave?

Even Dale knows Johnny is gone after Wednesday's game. With attendance in the shitter and the team not winning any games and the whole shite show that it's become, he's gone. FACE IT PEOPLE, HE GONE. No recruit in their right mind would wanna be part of this. There playing in front of more people at their high school games. It's over Johnny, it's over.
Also Nikki ain't going anywhere

How much basketball is left? The SEC tourney? I was wondering when should we expect to find out Johnnie's fate....

It's conference championship week for a lot of teams. No one is going stir up bs for this job now, especially when the job isn't technically available yet. Just wait another weekend.

Yep. People keep viewing it with a football season mentality. The end of the season is much more important in basketball.

Jones is done. Even he was told.

Dale & Collis got their moment and totally fricked it up.
I still don't understand the theme of "Dale & Collis forced Alleva to hire JJ." (Shaq's been implicated in this theory at times, too)
Do you guys that believe this think that D&C blackmailed LSU into hiring JJ? How would they do that? What leverage could they use to get JJ hired? Isn't it more likely that Alleva asked them for their thoughts on the guy, whom they've coached/played with/personally know in the exact same way that I'm certain former coaches, players, etc. were asked about Aranda (or any other potential hire) during the selection process?
I seriously, seriously doubt that anything outside of the ordinary happened during the hiring of JJ. Do Dale, Collis, Shaq, and other alums of the program carry more weight than an outsider? Sure, but that's not newsworthy nor indicative of a conspiracy.
You guys are such tools.

Her SEC record isn't exactly sterling
SEC will probably have the most teams playing in a postseason tournament. In which your conference record doesn't matter anymore.

Of course not, but there was a constant public campaigning from Dale and many of his former players to hire Johnny. Every time the subject came up over the last two hires and even Dale after his retirement said CJJ was his pick to be his successor.
And I get it, I had friends and former teammates who coached college basketball and I wanted them to get coaching gigs they were up for.
But some like Collis and Clarence Ceaser, and yes Shaq too, who were very outspoken to the point of saying any other hire was foolish.
Collis was even quoted as saying after Brady's firing that we needed to either hire Johnny or Butch Pierre or you set the program back 10 years.
Couple that with Collis being given a seat of prominence on the committee's put together for the last two coaching searches and being the go to guy for the press on search discussions and for me that's not a big leap to think all that pressure together made it much easier for Joe to acquiesce for a settle hire of a coach frankly no other Big 5 school was even remotely interested in.
I'll give you "forced" may be too strong a word, but I definitely don't think it happens without their consistent and persistent campaigning.

I'm pretty sure that Alleva understands you can't bring in a retread like Stansbury or a Middle Tennessee lifer like Kermit Davis.
Alleva has no spine. He bent to the will of CT III and Dale Brown, then he bent to the will of perceived public pressure to keep Miles after the aTm win, then he bent to public will to fire Miles after 3 games, then he got played by Florida's AD, then he bent to the will of Ponamski and the public to hire O instead of getting his guy or interviewing or even searching for candidates. Alleva will bend to the will of Stansbury who is actively campaigning for the job. Stansbury will put together a PowerPoint and Alleva will squirt himself before he offers him the job on the spot.
Alleva is the text book definition of incompetence.
